Have you taken a look through the beta? I've opened up the map a lot with fences, I've added a ton of foliage, a bunch of junk where appropriate, quite a few crates, rubble, etc. I feel like your comment would have been appropriate for the alpha or the first beta, but I've gone through and done a major detailing pass. The screenshot from by BLU's spawn isn't that good in that it shows a lot of plainness.
