Wow, another great deal.  You can really tell Microsoft is trying to push 7 to finally replace the XP userbase.

This deal is for students of universities and colleges.  All you need is an active student email (so you don't even need to be enrolled anymore...).

Click on the BUY box--it will take you to a page where you enter in your email address.  If the system accepts your email address, you will be sent a link to purchase a license for $30.

You won't be getting a disc, you will need to download the install.

I will be doing this.  That means I will have 2 copies of 7 Ultimate and a copy of Home Premium for $40--all legit.  I love Microsoft!

When you click the link they send you, it says you will be receiving a Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade.  Don't worry, you are actually purchasing a full license and thus you can install a fresh copy without having a previous Windows license.

I'm in Electrical Engineering Technology field at my university so I can subscribe to IEEE for 32$ a year and gain access to the MSDNAA stuff.
In the MSDNAA you have access to I think seven or eight Windows 7 Pro keys. As well as an XP key and some other software.

thanks for the news Lou.

just to clarify though - it's the full version of W7, but you're downloading it. can you burn it to a disk and use it as a boot disk and reformat your drive?

Update: when you click the link in the email, below the offer is a yellow box that says, "Need to join your school's network domain?"

Click that and it will give you the option of buying Windows 7 Professional for the same price.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they give you a link to a .ISO and then email you the Key to install it with.

Look into possibly gaining IEEE access first. There a quite a few majors that it covers I do believe.
