Account Phishing

Some guy just tried to get my account through phishing. They will never ask you for your account name and password so beware.

His name was Automatic Messaging System.

Yeah, I got the same message this morning. It came through the TF2F Pickup Games chat, or the phisher is using that group to try and get to people. It looks more official than most phishing scams, so I hope nobody falls for it.

Me, too.  I reported it to the steampowered.com website (As was directed by the valvesoftware.com website).

I got one of these like a year ago.  With almost that exact same format.  Luckily I was smart enough to realize they were trying to gank my account.  It does look a lot more official than most phishing attempts.

lol, I love how every chat starts with "Never give your password to anyone" and they are still trying to phish people.

I can't find it but i have seen a conversation with a guy who tried to phish for a steam account once who eventually got his own account taken by the victim who acted like he worked for valve.

Somebody should find that one, its hilarious

here's my question - what can they do w/a ganked account?  i mean, as soon as they gank it and you can no longer log on (and seeing as how many players log about every day) you just call up Valve and they can de-gankify it.  can you transfer games inbetween accounts or something?

Same thing, just ignore it.  Spread the word that it's a scam if it comes up in chat.
