I've been playing soldier for a while now and I've seen how much damage he can deal out. Usually I can juggle someone but I can never hit someone while they are in the air. Any tips?

Practice I guess. It's the only way you'll get better at airshots.

Practice, I personally rarely ever play Soldier but I can get a fair amount of airshots because I played on BBall servers so much in the past.

Download tr_rocket_shooting2. It's a good map to start practicing.

But seriously, yeah, practice practice practice. Like cheesus said tr_rocket_shooting really helped me to start off at least being able to judge where to aim for air shots.

It's all about working on your spacial skills in general.  Just remember that this game is basically a sterile, control laboratory where rockets always fly straight(so do bad players) in (x,y,z,) coordinates.  You just need to learn to estimate the speed of the rockets, the path the players will take through the air and the angle you then have to make in order for the rocket to have time to meet up with the player body.  I'm not super pro or anything, but when I try to line up a shot I get a mental image of 3-d graphs and CAD drawings.

All I know is that some of the people who are really good at soldier are engineering/math majors and are good at thinking in three dimensions.

I found that playing Rocket Jumping maps helped me build up a reflex for how a rocket is going to knock somebody around.
I'm a pretty good Soldier in open spaces.
I'm usually just decent in hallways and such though.

tr_walkway
has a good airshot training feature where it launches random classes from a launchpad that can be set to have a random trajectory and/or random power.  That's more for practicing people jumping at you (rocket/sticky jumps).

tr_rocketshooting2 is good for practicing when you pop somebody up in the air.
