I understand that right now, the scout's speed is 133%.  perhaps a slight increase is in order. how about 150%? right now, only a handful of people i talk to complain about the scout's speed. The increase in speed would help scouts stay alive longer, and be a more viable option for offense when playing tf2.  Although snipers, soldiers, and maybe pyro's will complain. So will spies, but they were never meant to get scouts in the first place.

Discuss pros and cons.

The scout's speed is fine where it's at.  Increasing it any more would make him extremely unbalanced.  Although I would enjoy it, I dont think it would be fair to the other classes.

Pros - well obviously I'd like it

Cons - way overpowerd in terms of speed.

If you're dying too quickly as a scout you're doing it wrong

lol, i actually dont die too fast. i usually always get at least 2 or 3 points per life before i get killed by a pyro, crit rocket, or heavy.

And it wouldn't really be too unbalanced. Because we are still limited by our reaction time.  If we bump into a pyro in a corner, we still have to realize that we need to run away.  The extra speed would only make a big difference when we are being sniped, being fired at by a soldier (this speed would help lessen complaints about crit rockets), or being gunned down by a heavy.

Personally, I think it's fine the way it is.  However, I'm interested in seeing what the Scout would be like with increased speed.  I don't know, experienced players don't seem to have problems managing themselves and maneuvering and dodging enemy fire.

Exactly.

This is just like the "Spy insta-kill stab" suggestion.  All the classes have a learning curve, and some are steeper than others.  You could argue all day long which one is the toughest to master, but the POINT is that we all want our favorite class to dominate, and when we're getting pwned it's only natural to wish for just a little more of something.  Just a little more crit splash, just a little more cloak time, just a little more speed etc.

I think Valve must have had a helluva time balancing the characters, and the end result is pretty damned even imo.

it could be too fast.  Say that there is a level 3 sentry guarding a tunnel if a narrow line of sight.  All classes and the old scout would get gunned down if they tried to cross the area but with the extra speed a scout could potentially out run the sentry.

Also in 2fort, say a soldi is defending the courtyard.  As the old scout if you killed him and ran into the intel room and grabed the intel, the soldier could potentially respawn and attack the scout again.  2fort was diesigned this way so that to grab the intel you would have to fight 1 1/2 to 2 waves of enemies.  With increased speed the scout could run out of the base before the dead men could respwan.

I really don't see any complaints about the current scout speed but this as the potential to be a big complaint factor just like the OVERCHARGE MEDI GUN.

Why its bad for certian classes.

Pyro: Scouts should already be able to kill pyros.  The extra speed would be overkill.

Heavy:  Even easier to circlestrafe  around heavies.  Most of the heavy will kill the scout because mini gun is a bitch at close range.  with extra speed thought the scout could run past the heavy and get behind him before the heavy can even turn around and get spinning.

Scout: Socut on Scout fights would be even harder and annoying.  But most scouts would like the extra.

Soldi: Scouts would be nearly impossible to hit with rockets.  Scouts would almost always win.  Even if the soldi shot at his feet you could backpedal causeing more damage to the soldi then you.

Demoman:  Every pipe bomb would miss even worse then the rockets and unless stickies were REALLY spread out you could out run them or bait and backpedal.

Engi:  Circlestrafing would be easy aganst sentries and you could potentially outrun them.

Medic:  medic see scouts, screams for ally to turn around, by then the scout would be on the medic's dead body.  Most of the time medic's ally have enought time to turn around to porctect him but the scouts new speed would kill the medic before help could arive.

Sniper: Hitting scouts would be impossible.  "nough said.  At least aganst the 133% speed good snipers had some of a chance.

Spy: Your right scouts are anti spy but with new speed scout could be more effective aganst spies then pyro.

In conclusion this is OP and the scout is perfect as it is.  If vavle needs to work on anything its the spy backstabs, and the pyro's hitboxes.

It would kill the klass for newbs. Aiming would be enormously difficult at that speed and if you're new to the game, you maybe get one-two kills before you die.

Wow. That was wierd.  How come all the people saying no are scout mainers, but a pyro specialist and a demoman specialist want to see what would happen? Lol.

Anyways, RAD27-D has a very good point.  I have many problems trying to aim while running around jumping all over the place (although from when i watch others play, its still pretty good).  This extra speed will mess us up. We will need to aim better.

Which means it will only slightly benefit us in actual combat.  It will really help us when we are running for a healthpack, medkit, medic, or respawn.

Also, another option would be to increase the scout speed to 175% when not shooting, and then 120% while shooting and 5 seconds after shooting.

Sinja.  No one is supporting but you.

The demoman said scout is fine, and the pyro said that aiming would be really hard.

I wouldn't like it at all.  I like the Scout as it is, flaws and and all.  Making it faster would ruin every Scout out there for a little while.  Then, when they get used to it, it'd devestate every other class with ease.  A good Scout can already beat any other class given the right situation, and this would just be over-kill.  A lot of people wouldn't even bother with Pyro or Heavy anymore, for instance, because it'd be nearly impossible to survive an encounter with a Scout that doesn't happen to be stuck in a box facing the other direction.  And I shudder to think of what Scout vs. Scout would be like.  Ugh.
