This is just a crazy idea when i was playing on a server.  What if the pyro could jump extra-high with the air blast, just like the rocket or sticky jumps.  The only problem i see is that you can't hurt yourself like you can with rockets or stickies so valve would have to find a way to balance that out.  Post your ideas, I want to hear what the community has to think of this.  Thanks.

They had wanted to do this originally but said it posed balance problems. My guess is that the light classes would have no chance if the pyro could literally fly and jump on them from places the pyro should never have been able to hit.

I had thought that this made sense but valve had this and tested it out but a flying burning death ball just wasn't in the cards.

Could the incendiary cannon act as rocket jumps?

Because in TFC, it did, it'd be the same, but just a thing to jump over people or prevent fall damage.

At best you can utilize a deflected rocket to do a super jump, but it can really only be used as an escape tool and it's rather difficult to get the hang of.

I've thought about this so many times too. As for damage, you would still get the fall damage. I also don't think that it would be useless because you could get behind people without them noticing or use it to escape.

It would be terribly overpowered. The only thing stopping pyros from ripping the smaller classes apart is their ability to keep their distance. If this gets added you will have to reduce the flamethrower to 1/10th damage and 20 damage afterburn to make it balanced.

good video of a pyro using nothing but airblast and axe offensively, and 2 or 3 airblast jumps

I thought that the airblast jump was removed because players would try to reflect low projectiles and accidentally blast themselves into the air. (Kinda defeats the point of reflecting rockets, doesn't it? ) I remember reading that somewhere.

I don't see why the ability to airblast jump would be overpowered, so long as it were implemented in a smart way. Obviously an airblast jump shouldn't be as versatile as a rocket or sticky jump, but if the pyro could give himself a lateral boost by doing something like:

-jumping
-turning around in a direction OPPOSITE of where you want to go
-hitting the airblast

...then would that really be so bad?
