Hey I'm after building my new rig a week ago,
Athlon x2 3.0gHz dual core
Saphhire 4850
4Gb ddr3 ram 1066mHz
and case, hdd, dvd drive etc...
and now I've come across a problem. It occasionally happened just after I started playing on this computer but now it has rendered the game unplayable. During game play, lag rears its ugly head and gives me a single frame, some looping sound and then a lovely view of my corpse. I used net graph 3 and what I saw confused me but I am relatively sure that it's bad.

Those gaps are what I'm talking about, could anyone explain to me what exacty all this means? My googling skills have failed me in this area and I'm at my wits end. What worked fine before now doesn't and I haven't made any changes to anything. I'm on wireless, but I'd have get my hands on a 15m ethernet cable to get on wired. Any help is really appreciated, thanks.

1. Plug into a wired connection
2. See if you still have the same problem -> if the problem goes its your wireless thats bothering you. Stay on wired or reinstall the drivers or something
3. Defragment your cache files
4. Disable AV, firewall etc.

What speed internet do you have?
Try that then post back. If you still get the problem we know its not your internet

Right, I tried reinstalling drivers but that didn't really...work. Anyway, after moving it to my dads office and plugging it in the lag was hugely improved.
This is it on wireless with no firewall or anti virus.

And here it is on a wired connection.

It seems to me that this indicates a big improvment, could anyone who understands these primary coloured things confrim that?

I can give you a very very very complex explanation as to way you are better off wired then wireless.
If you look, the main difference is that on wireless you are lots of little bars where on the wire you have a steady stream.  On wireless, you natually have drops and colitions (in your case you happen to have it quite bad) where you don't have these issues with a wired connection.

Currently a wired connection is ALWAYS faster and more secure then wireless.  EVEN when you look at wireless N, sure your have a theoretical 110 mbps but no one has even gotten close to the theoretical limit.

I tried to keep that simple... good?  If not, I can easily go on :-P
