A rant about the missunderstood engineer

Read if you are bored or please chime in and share my pain.  I mostly play on public servers.  Mostly becasue the TF2FT public servers always seem to be full.  Anyways, I was playing yesterday and became rather irate at the lack of understanding about what it is like to play as a engineer.

When playing on a public server with a couple of other engineers who actually know that it is better to work together than horde and build on their own life is sweet.  But in the reverse life is down right un-fun.  What makes matters worse is when the others on the server like to complain, bark orders, and criticise my efforts.

The server was a 24/7 Dust which is a pretty engineer friendly map.  The opposing team had not one, but two very talented spies that made building anything a real challenge because they would work in tandom.  Often one would Sap then the other would back stab.  Once I figured out the tandom spy stratagey I could take out the spies but not have enough time to save my sapped gear.  But I have this noob engineer standing right next to my gear being sapped away and he does nothing.  Then I have others on the server complaining why my tele keeps going down or the fact that I don't upgrade it.  Which I do upgrade them but everytime they are destroyed I have to start all over.  Then once the spies figured out that I had figured them out they decided to harass spawn and keep sapping my rebuilt entrances.  But still I am the one who is screwing up because the 5 pyros don't bother to spy check even when we know that spies are harassing the spawn.

Another one is when this same goofball engie shows up and builds right on top of my gear and takes the metal out of the dispenser I built so that I can upgrade everything.  I figured I wasn't going to win with this guy so I decided to help him out and then build my gear.  Problem is that he would place his stuff in the most unuseful places possible.  What good is a defensive sentry under the first point that can't even defend the hallway?

Who would have guessed that there are terrible players on a 24/7 Dustbowl server?
