Like everyone else I've been playing Gold Rush for hours, and it's true that it is very sniper friendly (even as a self-admitted losuy sniper I managed to get in several head shots). All the time one sniper was routinely hs'ing me (as well as everyone else) so often I once ubered my heavy companion the second I saw him strafe round the corner we were approaching. Admittedly a good sniper such as Snuts or the guy I was playing is difficult to avoid getting hit by (unless you're a low priority target in a large group), but for all the good snipers out there, which pattern of movements make enemies harder to hit? (Assuming that hiding behind walls is the best defence).

Thanks, Qinetics

Against Snuts, there is no such thing as "hard to hit."

But against normal snipers, keep it unpredictable, jumping is something that should not be spammed, but rather used intermixed with strafing and crouches. Make yourself unpredictable and mobile, and the headshot is much more difficult to get.

the worst thing you can do is jump straight up. if you're going to jump, make sure you're moving at your top speed. and it's always better to be going to the left or right of the snipers view than it is to go directly towards him or straight away from him.

and your tactics should definitely vary depending on what you think the sniper's skill is.

You need to ask the appropriate anti-sniper classes to get over to them and help out.
right now ppl are still figuring out the map and it will be a while before the scouts learn where the snipers stand to take em out

its VERY easy to flank snipers on this map, as i think gman/thricky may be able to attest to. on the flip side its pretty easy for them to snipe on the map.

Just move erratically and its harder to hit then jumping and all of that stuff jazz. Goldrush at some points is sniper friendly, and mostly not to be honest. Because there is so much confusion going on, its not uncommon for a spy to kill me or a scout to run behind me because there is so much going on in a small area people overlook things.

Yep, the best counter to a sniper like Snuts is to have one player devoted to annoy the hell out of him. Have a scout/spy go the long way around and engage him while you run through the area he was covering.

If you get caught in a situation where the sniper is staring at you and he isn't being distracted, jump side to side, take cover, crouch and shoot at him.

As a sniper, the things that bug me more than other snipers are scouts and spies. I feel like I'm a spy magnet. Not only are you not paying attention to what's around you, you're also just sitting there asking for a backstab. Plus, there's a good chance that there may be no teammates around... so it's premium spy opportunity right there. Scouts can easily get past the front lines, and when a scouts that close, the scout wins 90% of the time. So if you want to keep a sniper on his toes, switch classes temporarily.

As for avoiding a sniper... erratic movement is best. When I snipe, the most difficult targets are those who have unpredictable movements. Zig zag and stop randomly. I can't even imagine how many shots I missed because my target randomly stopped and I was SURE I had a headshot coming.

IMO jumping doesn't do much, unless you're double jumping as a scout. When you jump, your trajectory is set in a straight line for a few seconds, so your movement is completely predictable. It may make the headshot a bit more difficult, but it makes a charged bodyshot relatively easier.

Jump then push backwards, throw me off anyway since I'm getting ready to aim where you land, but you land early

But don't just keep jumping across my field of view, that's silly.
