I have been playing the new arena mode and i just can't seen to get any kills alone. I am a decently good spy and i can hold my own in a regular match. I know cloak is essential in arena and you can't use disguises. I need some tips on how to play arena as a spy. Thanks in advance.

Try attacking while they are busy fighting your team. If they are looking at your team mates, that means they aren't looking for you. What I try to do is sneak around behind them cloaked, get my cloak charged about half way, then go towards where I saw my team go, to sandwich the enemy. Then when they engage my team, I pick them off while they are fighting.

The other option is to look for people all by themselves, because if you attack a group, sure you killed one person, but the other 2 people killed you.

dont die

no but seriously, attack people when they are focused on something else, and its much easier to pick of a stray, then a whole pack
you choose your battles

Use your cloak wisely, and don't go after people who are smart. I dominated this one spy - because he kept going after me, as a medic, and didn't realize I'm smart enough to constantly turn around to check.

Dont use disguises, and camping is a good idea.

Use disguises, but don't rely on them. A disguised spy is less obvious that an undisguised. USE DISGUISES, BUT DON'T EVER ASSUME THEY WILL WORK! It was my old specialty, I know a lot.

Spy is hard in arena because the other team doesn't really have much to do. No points to capture or defend, no intel to take or defend. They could honestly just stand there fending off opponents. Makes it hard because they now have all the time in the world to look around.

So: height advantage. People don't look up. That's a good tip.

And don't call it "leap stab" it's a retarded ass name for a basic combat tactic.

Change up your strategy, try to go spectator and see what they do. If rushing in with cloak trying to get behind them keeps getting you killed, try hanging back a bit, wait for them to thin out, then try to get behind them. If your team just sucks, try to have some fun and get in some good back stabs. That's the only thing you can do.

The worst thing in Arena for Spy, is when the enemy decides to play Turtle (I've noticed this a lot on Ravine) and not venture outside the range of a sentry. Not much to offer when that occurs.

Adding to the height advantage discussion, the best thing about height advantage is that it's the safest possible place for a spy to be while waiting.  Good players will look up (although less than they look in other places).  The real advantage comes from having less consequences when found.  A simple drop down for you to get them, but they often have to go out of their way to get you, giving you plenty of time to plan and prepare (Soldiers and demos are exceptions but they still have to damage themselves to get to you, which is a sacrifice in arena.  Being high up also means that there are more accessible places for you to escape in cloak).

But as many others have said, the main difference and the very thing that makes spy in arena a lot different is that you can't count on people being preoccupied with an objective on the map.  Because there is no repetitive spawning and no common walking path, sneaking up on people without using the map to your advantage will not work often.  Play defensively and try to find people that are distracted or busy fighting someone else so that you don't get spy checked to hell.

Also, if you bump into someone or know that someone saw smoke, just sneak off to another part of the map.  Arena is usually super campy and defensive meaning that if the enemy sees one puff of smoke, the entire team goes spy-check crazy in that area.  You might actually consider staying with your team on some arena maps because of  how unpredictable an open arena map is at the start.  Once your team spots them and they start approaching you, everything becomes a lot more predictable and usually more exploitable.
