WEEK 1: DAY 1

FUCK pushups are hard. I could do a grand total of SEVEN on the initial test thing. I completed the first day with barely making the max at 5. At least it's a starting point eh?

I did this last year.

It's hard but doable.

I keep telling myself I'm gonna do this because I can usually get like 60ish but totally crap out afterwards. I still haven't done yet but hopefully I can at least get my ass back in the gym since school's started.

I'm gonna try when I get home from vacation. 10 years of karate should give me an advantage right?

6 years of TKD has done nothing for me. Well, I stopped doing TKD around 5 years ago so that's probably why.

4 years of ROTC, where my scholarship depended on whether or not I passed a physical fitness test twice a year, plus 6 years of active duty have made me a pushup queen - mostly because I can't run for shit, and needed to max my pushups to give me enough padding points wise to suck at distance run portion of the test.

Advice: it's very important that you don't cheat on your form. It's better to do slow, controlled pushups, where each one is the same as the last. Don't let your butt go too high (in other words, don't form London Bridge), and don't cheat yourself by not going all the way down. In the military, we partnered up, and you'd have your partner place their fist directly below your sternum. The pushup didn't count unless you lowered yourself far enough so that your sternum touched their fist. You could use something like a softball on your own, unless of course you can find someone willing to do it.
