biggest game changer, most important class. yet i see so many medics get backstab by a spy(consoles). i dont know what it is, but it bugs the living hell out of me. is it because the quality of players are just not what i expected or spies are too good on the consoles?

I think its a bit of both. Theres not many quality medics on 360 so I can see a lot of people sitting there not paying attention and STAB

Yeah, most of the time it's because a lot of the Medics really don't watch their rear. They only keep their line of sight on their patient while that person is attacking something.

I got stabbed a couple of times as a medic last night, but managed to bonesaw them back a few times. Not the most experienced medic but it was needed. Good class to play if your killing head isn't quite on (yet).

Since most spies come out you from the rear flank, the medic is the first target -- it's also a valuable target if he's nearing uber although alot of players seem to just be in it for the kills.  I often see the spy before everyone else and the spy knows I see him but I can't stop the healing because my "patient" is under fire so the spy just sidles up to the patient and kills him.  If I could get my mic to work consistently on PS3, it might be different.

Keep on moving (strafing and jumping) and looking behind you while still trying to remain behind cover and healing everybody.  Another good reason why there should be one player like a pyro or engineer protecting the rear flank of an attacking or defending force.

I know the importance of a medic when I'm Heavy. As long as I'm not currently engaged in multiple enemies, I try to watch his back as much as he (or she) watches mine.

As sniper I always take out the Medic first as whomever they're healing/ubering is generally slower and an easier target.

I would also imagine that console players are not as effective at complex manouvers such as rapid 180 degree turns for spychecking, whereas PC players have the benefits of a steady wrist.

Medics can turn around pretty quickly -- depending on the environment, I do a sort of ballet dance where I'm turning, jumping and moving around and trying to keep it as random as possible (whilst keeping an eye on the other players who may need healing).  Just having a spy around will break my concentration, though -- two spies and I'll usually break out the bonesaw and let my "patients" to their own devices.

You're a scout Ritz -- is changing direction in midair easy on the console or do you have one of those mouse thingies to plug in to the console?

Zerombie - I totally sympathize.  I've seen medics complain that anyone they're healing should be watching their back first and as I've played both I really think if the medic-heavy/solly/demo is important for the team, then someone like an engie or pyro or scout even should be watching the rear if they have nothing else to do.  Ideally, forward deployed spies should be taking out the other spies trying to infiltrate but that usually doesn't happen.

I think about Dustbowl, Stage 3, 1st Cap as a great example of where spies can disrupt what's usually a hard breakout (heck, the entire stage 3 is a backstabbing, sniping and suicidal pyro heaven).
