Did they remaster the tracks in such away that splits the various instruments between left and right, like on the cds I own?

Why is that annoying?

Its proper for many circumstances and for others it can be the sign of an incredibly well mixed album.

If you find yourself getting listeners fatigue with headphones I would recommend a cross fader where you can mix the L and R channels and combine them a bit.

I feel as though it's done inappropriately with the Beatles, like putting all of the cymbals in one ear, all of the vocals in the other, then never changing them.

On older beatles albums, the stereo mixes are kind of ludicrous. The Mono mixes were sort of more important than stereo mixes back then. It's probably better to listen to the early stuff in mono, especially on headphones. Once they get up into like Rubber Soul and stuff, the stereo mixes become better. Still though, it's a lot of hard pans like most old records. If it annoys you, you can go for the mono mixes which should sound pretty good.

The remasters are not gonna change any panning. They are supposed to sound quite good though. Probably not much different out of laptop speakers or shitty earbuds, tho.

If you dont like the way they did the stereo ones before you wont like this either cuz its the same i think.

You could try maybe forcing your audio player to play in mono... prolly wont get that in itunes but in winamp?
