I think there may be a thread about this already (or maybe it was on the Steam forums, which I hardly take seriously), but I'm curious to see people's opinion now that it's been a while since the medic update.

Which do you prefer and why?

Ubersaw, getting uber is good. Swing speed is nothing.

Ubersaw.

To be honest no saw though, I can't remember the last time I sawed someone. Anything the saw can do at melee range, the needlegun can do better at a slightly safer range. How much damage needles do per second at that slightly safer range almost negate the fact that it isn't burst damage like the saw plus the insane health regen from hitting a bunch of them in a row. Especially when you've gotten to the point where you can land every needle.

The only time my ubersaw will ever see light in a match is getting a free uber off someone who lagged out.  MeDKiT taught me that a while back. =]

Someone on my team: "Hahaha, their scout lagged out."

Me: "Don't kill him! Let me get an uber off of him."

Bonesaw is OP in comparison to not having any saw at all.

Ubersaw for sure. The only time the negative impact of the swing speed comes up is when you're swinging at (and hitting) someone more than once in a row. That rarely if ever happens in matches, so the pros faaaaaar outweigh the cons for me.

The slower attack speed of the übersaw is a marginal penalty as it is not the attack speed that makes the bonesaw a good melee weapon to begin with. High burst damage is what makes the melee weapons great, not their DPS. If the übersaw had a much lower burst damage, like the axtinguisher, you would actually have to choose between combat ability or utility. As of now the übersaw can do the same thing as the bonesaw (high burst melee attacks) while adding versatility on top of that.
