So my current gaming rig is turning 3 this weekend, I figured I should get a new computer this summer now that I'll actually have time to build this thing and game on it. I'm looking at resolutions around 1600x1200, maybe more, maybe less. Maxing out graphics settings isn't too important to me, but I want to be able to play with highest graphics at modest AA settings for current titles at 30+ fps. My working budget has a max of $1300 and this current build comes up to $1249.

Mainly I'm looking for advice about the motherboard since I'm an overclocker. I want a motherboard that has enthusiast capabilities (ie overclocking), but not some rampage II extreme $400 board.

I would say get that motherboard or this one, although I think if I were you I'd stick with the one you have. I love Gigabyte's overclocking options (mine is rock solid stable but its lga775 ) but apparently people are having lots of driver issues with that board. Rebate would save 10 bucks though.

from what I have seen that is a good board, the whole setup is top notch and you have obviously done your homework. the only suggestion would be to get a tri sli compatible board so that instead of a full blown new computer the next time you upgrade instead you could just drop a couple more gpus in your current rig....

Thanks. The only part I'm not sure about is the psu. What's all this stuff about 3.3V and 12V rails? All I really need is probably a 6 and 8 pin for the gpu, 12 pin for the mobo, and some sata power cables.

EDIT: Also, if you have any suggestions for Core i7 coolers I'd be happy to hear them. There's many great (and many terrible) coolers for the AM2 and 775, but the 1366 socket is too new to have a good variety of coolers.

ASUS has always been the forerunner for overclocking.  That board should suite your needs.  That's a nice build!

You can save some money by going down to 1066 speed RAM.  Maximum PC explains: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/experiments_memory_ram_myths_put_test?page=0%2C0

the rails only really come into play with sli and crossfire setups... and the only rail you actually need to look at is the 12v rail

the 12v rail supports up to 60 amps in your psu, while the video card requires 40 amps for your 12v rail, so your all good.
