So as the title says, I'm trying to build a computer on a budget! I've asked my "computer savy" cousin to help me out by creating a shopping list on newegg, but for some reason Id feel a bit safer if the TF2F'ers would help me out with said shopping list

the budget comes to AROUND 600$, peripherals not included (monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc). also im looking for the best performance possible for that budget if you can id love to play aion on highest if possible, but i can settle of course. you may go above the budget by about 50-70 dollars, im willing to fork over about that much for a bit more preformance.

if you can link the parts in the thread, that would be fantastic. I'd prefer to order my stuff from newegg (due to their fantastic customer service imho).

thanks in advance,
cblair

OS is NOT included. ill er. well, i wont say what ill be doing on that aspect
the computer will be used primarily for gaming. i plan on doing school work, web surfing, etc. but i figure any graphics card/processor can do that easily.

I don't care about the case TOO much. though i don't want anything super small. a mid tower is preferred.

I'm working on a basic idea... The only think is it looks like I might be short of cash for the GPU because it
s a Quad core system.

I would appreciate as many options as possible I'm crazy OCD when it comes to buying products in general, so ill more than likely be reading hundreds of reviews on the products you guys are offering, asking fellow peers what they think, etc.

on a side note, may i ask how experienced either of you are when it comes to building and maintaining computers? I can actually build the said computer, but sadly I'm not to savy on the specifics and what to buy

but either way, thanks for being helpful. a lot of other forums have been...well.. a lot less helpful. thank [insert religious figure here] i decided to make an account on here a while back (long time lurker, not-so-often poster)

Edit: heading off for the night, will check the thread in the morning.

Ok.  I did NOT do a full compatibility check, but this should theoreticly work fine.
Truthfully you might want to find a different GPU.  In that price range you can get the 9800 or a 250.
The case is on the expensive side, but it's a very nice looking basic gamer case (no lights).
You might also want to add a third-party heatsink (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118003)

Mobo - 129.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188033

CPU - 169.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115057

RAM - 62.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227267

HDD - 64.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152100

Optical - 28.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136167

Case - 54.95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

GPU - 144.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150437

Total - 656.89

Ram is a little more expensive then it's been in the past...  that's the market for you.  That mobo gives you the option to eventually go SLI if you ever wanted to.  The HDD is 750GB.  It wont hold a life-time of videos and music, but it should hold all yours games and most important files without a problem.  You can also later add a 1TB drive for more data.

Oh crap, I didn't add a PSU...  I'll tweak this later...
