Ladies,
Im purchasing a new computer tomorrow, and i want to know how good it will be, basically.
Umm.. kinda things i want it to do, play crysis on very high setting with say 30fps
Gta4, high settings, playable fps
Steam based games, max settings, good fps.
Editing movies (using premiere pro) with no struggle.
Expandability.

- Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz Overclocked to 3.20GHz!
- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel
- LG GH22NS30 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black)
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
- Akasa AK-967 Nero Direct Contact Heatpipe CPU Cooler
- OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply
- Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
- Radeon HD4890 1024mb

This comes to £700/$1150. That may be overpriced, but as long as its not too overpriced im not really bothered, as its a local company so i am happy to purchase from there.
Please try to keep off-topic discussions to a minimum as i would really like to know if this is okay by tomorrow. As interesting as i find potted meat changes throughout the 19th century, they wont help my buy a computer haha.
Thanks for any help

You may want to jump to i7 or i5. And Seagate isn't that good of a brand.

My only issue is with the motherboard, it only has one PCI-E slot so it leaves no room for adding a second video card.  I have a 4890 in my current machine and that runs everything to the max.  But I have a i7 2.67 processor so there is that.

Im not too bothered about the motherboard, as i dont plan on unpgrading for at least a year, and even then it will probably only be a single GPU.
Performance wise, is this a good buy?

Why are you getting a Core 2? Intel is not going to be adding anything more to that platform with the new i7/i5 series out. I highly suggest going with an i7, or an i5 if you're budget-conscious. Core i5's are the midrange procs that easily outperform most Core 2's at lower prices. As for the videocard, ATI's 48xx series are a great buy, but they've introduced the next generation of 58xx and 57xxx. The 5870 is about as powerful as a GTX 295 and costs $380 (a bit overpriced since nvidia has no competitor), but the 5850 goes for only $280 and will definitely bring you closer to running Crysis @30 fps.

I agree with Jaeger about the Seagate thing. I've never had a bad experience with them but I trust Western Digital a lot more.

Budget is the main problem. Being a student, and with the economic climate, ive been saving for about a year now and only just have enough to buy this. Also, although i want high performance, im not looking for top of the line 'omg its better than real life' type of thing.
Thanks for the input though, i may re-consider.

Ive had bad experiences with WD, and having taken apart many HDs for cheap disposal, I can tell you that the seagates are quite obviously better in parts quality. The WD platters shatter like crazy easily but the seagate ones dont. This might not be true with the newest drives cuz obv im not destroying new ones.

I have 3 seagates currently, and they have lasted longer, run quieter than the 3 WD drives i used to own.

Anyway, you will get everything you wanted out of those PC specs, but you are over paying about $300 CAD (maybe $250 USD) and for the same price or slightly more you could prolly bust out a i5 rig as the others are saying.

I've had quite the opposite experience. My first two seagate drives failed out of the box, while my two WD ones are still going strong.

I've had two seagate barracudas in my computer for the last two years and not a single problem.

Intel Core i5 750
ASUS P7P55D Pro
Corsair XMS3 2x2gb

comes to about $560 CAD after tax

The i5 750 is an amazing proc too, esp at that price point.

This will be the upgrade I make in a few weeks I think.
