Can't kill anyone with the Pyro anymore

I'm serious.

It's not because of the backburner...no.

It's because of the damage falloff.

I was nearly killed by a SNIPER, whom I ambushed from behind, with the backburner, so it crit'd, then he turned around, and fired his SMG at me. I kept my flame on him for another 2 seconds, and he turned a corner. I then chased him around it, and continued to burn him as he ran into his resupply. He fucking survived.

This happens a lot: having to keep my flame on them for a rediculous amount of time, time in which a teammate will kill me, or he can get away.

The Backburner nerf I am completely happy about.

The damage falloff however, is going way too far.

Sounds like you have a bad case of fail. Just earlier today pyros have been killing me in 4 seconds flat, 2 seconds with the BB.

The damage falloff was reinstated on the 1st of the month, why complain about it now?

I've been gone for a month in Israel.
So that's why.

And yes, I CAN still kill people, but it takes 3X the time now. And it really kills my hit and run style, since most people survive every attack.

Phoenix, where the heck've you been?  Back before the Pyro update, the damage falloff (down to 25% at the tip) was the REASON the Pyro was underpowered.  When the took out the falloff, he became overpowered.  Now they've added a smaller damage falloff back on, and he's just right now.

Oh, and for the record:  I've been playing Pyro since the beta.  I know his strenghths and weaknesses.

i think what you had was a bad case of hit detection demons.  yeah - the pyro's hit detection has greatly improved since the update, but in many situations it can still be a little...quirky.

Scorch, then why does it take 5-6 straight seconds of having them in your flamer for them to die? That's ridiculous! What percentage is it at now?

And yes, josef, some of those instances could have been from weird hit detection issues.

If I understand the situation your target is at the tip of flame causing minimal damage/ going in and out of range, I say you should switch to shotgun. To many pyro's run around holding down mouse1 when the target could easily be killed by a shotgun blast.

They made the flamethrower stronger since a month ago, if anything you should be killing people faster.  Its been nothing but buffs until the -50hp on backburner.
