Charging stickies or no charging?

Hi,

I was watching a few demo frag videos today and it seems like most "good" demos don't charge their stickies.  Rather, they fire them uncharged and arc them.  Is this accurate?  Or am I missing something?  I always try to charge my stickies a little bit in order to reach targets that are a little farther away (like midrange, I guess), so maybe I have been doing it wrong.

Thanks for the help!

That sounds like an interesting theory. Care to link to a video as an example?

Just a random video that i watched today.  In many situations, he shoots uncharged stickies in situations and arcs his launcher where I would have probably tried to put a small charge on it and then fire.

it depends whether you're in combat or not, if you are then charging your stickies is a waste of time, however if you are not in combat (e.g the start of a granary game at the middle and you've just got there, you should charge at least one sticky to get all the way over the the enemy teams side or to cover the health pack
not charging your stickies at all is a bad idea.

I charge and spam stickies across the map all the time. The reason why you never see this in frag videos is because people don't include "Spamming across the map" in their frag videos :|

Long range stickies don't do a whole lot of damage, but you can really annoy the other team by doing that in your down time.

Unless its mid, I usually charge to try to snipe people. Otherwise it seems arcing is just faster.

Charging wastes time in battle, where the main priority of the demoman is to get as many stickies into important spots ASAP. Charging when going around corners can get u killed if u r unlucky enuff to encounter a revved heavy for pyro. I find i better to use the grenade launcher when going around corners as it will explode in impact with enemies if they r lurking around the corner.

It's pretty simple: charge stickies if you can't get close enough to hit them with uncharged stickies (which often happens during mid fights).
