I haven’t seen many discussions about the CaD, does anyone else think it’s useful? I think it’s a good addition to the Spy arsenal. Many times I have sat in heavily guarded bases watching enemy players struggle to find me (mainly for kicks). I’m curious, has anyone else used the Cloak and Dagger with much use? Or is the Dead ringer/regular watch a better tool?

No. NOOO.

You have no idea the awesome benefits of the CaD.

You can sit literally ANYWHERE YOU WANT!

My strategy:
Sit cloaked on the outside of the sniper's box on the battlements in TF2. The moment anyone crosses bridge and finishes sniper checking, I uncloak and do a jumpstab.

If anything, it's a bit overpowered. The enemy never see it coming.

Yeah, at first i thought it was a piece of shit, but actually its pretty good, it is extrmely easy to hide from enemys now, and it works great on defense

Upon entering this thread I expected a rant against this thing.
I am confused.  Are you FOR or AGAINST the CaD?

Ever since they nerfed DR, I switch off between Watch and CaD.  I used the CaD normally for attacking stakeouts.  Go around the enemy lines, disguise, sap sentries/teles, backstab the rushing Engineer, move further behind enemy lines...

Find a nice corner and just crouch-cloak there, slowly picking off the inevitable nearby Snipers and Engineers.

I like the CaD.  you can just sit around a corner and wait till it charges not having to worry too much about people finding you.  it's great on CTF maps, cause you can drop the intel, hide, grab it, move it up a bit, drop it, hide, all while being in view of the intel.

The best addition to the spy in tf2.

This adds a whole different style of play to the spy. Before the CaD, a spy would be forced to rely heavily on his disguise if he wanted to be a real asset to his team. He'd have to cloak from one hiding spot to another, and wait for the cloak to recharge. If someone found him, he was done for. He had no real way of playing the role of recon nor espionage. He was more of a hit and run class. Uncloak behind a convoy of enemies, then try to backstab his way through them. Before the spy felt less like a devious agent, and more like a scout with a disguise kit.

With the cloak and dagger, the spy can now wait in an enemy base for his calling, instead of trying to cloak into the enemy defences whilehis teammates eagerly awaited his signal. It also gives him a much better way of escaping his pursuers after a backstab, as well as be in a position to get quick revenge on a pursuer. He can still perform his previous hit and run strategy by waiting in a high traffic area of the map and ambush his enemies. This is how the cloak should have been done in the beggining. The spy is no longer restricted by the timer on his cloak, but by his own creativity and cunning; the way he was meant to be played

With all due respect to you Zenith, I have never seen a good spy rely heavily on his disguise and be successful in my time I played the game.

Regular Cloak: Best overall cloak, great for running and gunning.

Cloak and Dagger: Best for Engie hotspots, and spawn-killing.

Dead Ringer: ...

That sums it up.

exactly the point. Before the cloak and dagger, the disguise kit was his only means of attempting and of the activities that the cloak and dagger now enables him to do, and since the disguise kit is worthless, he was ineffective.

Correction: I meant that the spy would *not* be forced to rely heavily on his disguise kit, but rather on his cloak. At least, that's how I have seen good spies play, putting on about any disguise and cloaking their way to the enemy lines.

EDIT: Also, I do not think the spy was played (or even intended?) as a recon class but as a assassin class, hitting on key targets i.e. fully charged medics.

EDIT2: I realize I may be saying n'importe quoi. Forget what I said and I will return to my (LAST! Wheeee !!) lab report.
