So I thought I'd hop in the TF2F #2 server and try out some spy with the default weapons (thank you very much). I did a little warm up on Granary but that didn't go over too well so "Hey", I thought, "Why don't I just record a demo of the next round and ask for advice?".

Well, unfortunately I think I did almost everything right this round. If anyone could watch it and critique I'd more than appreciate it. I just picked up this class and it's a blast to play, definantly a lot more fun that I thought at first.

Not bad. You had some really good moments plus a couple epic fails

what I noticed

-you have good tracking & aim

-nice work on the scouts

-when you uncloaked at mid and the medic healed you, I understand the urge to stab him, but you probably should have ran with it and cloaked away or stabbed the demo

-How you got away with stabbing the sniper with the razor back, and still getting the backstab???

-expanding on the above...after that you used the revolver instead, good job!

-nice kill streak in the first part of the demo (even if 3-4 kills were after the round) lol

Other than that it looked pretty good. As far as pointers, well, I'm not the right guy to ask on that for spy-play, but good work!

I watched it. I'm no expert, I'm under 100 hours as Spy, but I'd say you have it down. You have your style and you seem to have a fairly refined sense of patience and weighing the moment of how to strike (like when to use the revolver and such, lost of spies dont know how to do anything but stab madly). Just a matter of practicing til your instinct causes you to make the correct decisions you made in this demo more often. Your core skills seem to be there, and thats the first real hurdle in getting to a competent stage.

I'd like to hear what the real 'pro' spies have to say. I think theres just a matter of time and practice til you're ready for your next leap in ability. I always find I have leaps after long periods of similar performance that slowly improves then it clicks and I jump ahead, referring generally to all sorts of skills in games and other such things.
