I was reading some info about class configs and it said not to bind crouch-jump to your jump key when using the scout. Does it screw up a scout's jump somehow?

I don't think you can double crouch jump. You can only jump, double jump and crouch.

Scouts can get up to high places as they are, but crouch jumping might help them get that little bit of vertical clearance if it was needed.

I use a simple crouch+jump script. Works fine with scout. I don't think you gain any height with it while in the air though (compared to a regular double jump). It just gives you a bit of extra clearing when landing.

By the way: every script-related post I made on this forum was swiftly followed by a post from Gman stating that one shouldn't use scripts. He is right. Skill comes from practice, not scripts. I myself use one of these (using the directional pad for jump/crouch) so for me it is impossible to press crouch+jump, hence the script.

Scripts, IMO, are fine to an extent.  Skill comes from playing, not scripts, so some scripts are just there for convenience, really, like my FOV switching script or the one I use to quickly put on a FRIENDLY disguise.  I figure anything I can do as easily just by using the default keys shouldn't really be on a script anyway.

True that, Boney526.  I would use scripts for convenience, as I don't need them to, let's say, rocket jump for me.

He was joking.  He never double jumps.  That would be silly.

Haha, as a casual TF2 player the fact that I don't use scripts and still top charts in pubs and manage some middle of the pack results on TF2 serves is a source of pride for me. I think scripting is kind of stupid. Because while its just a "convenience" to have scripts do some of your work it actually helps you a whole lot. Unlike the rest of us the script user does not need to worry about setting up a decent rocket jump, which while a small thing by itself is a huge thing when your in the middle of an intense firefight. Its just one less thing to think about, so you can focus on everything else easier. Thats not a luxury our console buddies -- or your average un techsavy casual player -- has. And when some one starts scripting lots of stuff, the little "conveniences" start building up into a big advantage. I'm not saying that all good players are scripting but its just disappointing that people do it. In a way its like a baseball batter using a cork filled bat that hits the ball farther cause thats "more convenient" than building up the technique or strength. So can you honestly be surprised when you go into a pub server with all your handy scripts and wonder why people don't react as fast or as well as you do? Oh yeah, their still trying to do the whole jumping thing on their own. Sorry to rant a bit, but I can't help but feel that if the game intended for you to have these scripts there would be defaulted buttons mapped out for these actions. So help your self out with all these "conveniences" you want but realize your cheating yourself out of actually becoming skillful at those annoying things you don't feel like bothering with, or are they annoying and bothersome because you never gave your self a chance to master them when scripts were so easy to write in. Do what you like but I think I'm going to play the game naturally like it was intended. And, while I suck, at some point we're going to play together and I'm going to kill you and your going to have to recognize the fact that I did it entirely on my own, and because of that in some small way, I'm better than you.
