I've noticed that alot of people are asking about demos lately. From how to watch them to where to get them. I thought It would be a good idea to start a thread for people to post their demos to.
For those of you who are not familiar with what a demo is - a demo is a recording of yourself, usually from your perspective, playing in-game. It is a great way to showcase techniques, strategies, and overall performances. They are a great way to give an up and coming player an idea on how to handle their class. I myself have learned quite a bit from watching demos.
I would also like to inform users on how to watch their demos once they do get a hold of these little gems.
-----------------
TO WATCH
-----------------
1. First you need to make sure you have the console enabled. The console is reached by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard when you are at the TF2 menu. To enable the console, start the game, and go to "Options" then "Keyboard" then "Advanced..." and check "Enable developer console".
2. Your .dem file should be placed in this directory: "%where steam is istalled%Steam\SteamApps\account-name\team fortress 2\tf\"
3. Fire up TeamFortress2 and at the Menu press the "~" to access console. From here you can type "demoui2" which will bring up a small control window. From here just click "Load" and select the demo you want to play. I normally use this method as the demoui2 allows fast forwarding and rewind, as well as a speed up and slow down feature.
*NOTE*
As Steam and TF2 are updated some of the old demos will stop working and error out when loading (complete bummer I know) So if you have an old demo that won't play, chances are this is the reason. As of right now I don't know any way around this.
-------------------
TO RECORD
-------------------
Recording a demo is easy once you have the Console enabled. To record a demo in your console just type "record 'demoname'.dem" The demo will be saved in the same location where you store downloaded demos: steam/steamapps/account-name/teamfortress2/tf folder.
To stop the Demo after you've begun recording simply open the Console and type "stop"

Want to turn that demo into a friendly .avi?
Had some Spielberg moment and you want to create an awesome video?
This should help you get started...
You can export demo footage to raw sound and image files, and then use
a third party software to combine, edit, and encode the files in a
friendly format. The advantage of this is that you can make nice video
files without slowing down your system (like a fraps-recorded demo
would). You can also turn your settings all the way up (leave
resolution at 640x480) and export, since it will take as long as it
needs to export each frame. One more advantage is that you can choose
the framerate that you export at, so that you can have slow/normal/fast
speed video.
This link describes the process in detail, as well as lists what tools you will need:
