Awhile back when I first got into Spy, Demoman was one of my main disguises along with Spy.
But after awhile, I realized Demoman was slightly slower than Spy so since my speed changed, it affected my chance to get perfect backstabs or pass by with cloaks since they run out before I can get somewhere.
So I'm asking, is the Demo disguise really a wise choice? Or should I just stick to Sniper, Pyro, Spy, and Engie?

only discuise as an enemy spy if you are going to run into the enemy base and taunt (you can taunt as an enemy spy) sniper only in an enemy sniper spot, engie gets checked too much for my liking but so does pyro and demoman which are my main ones, try playing as each class on your team and count how many times you get spy checked.

I'm going to try and end this now because it's the 10th thread about spy disguises.
You shouldn't rely on your disguise, period. It's only for dealing with sentrys. Cloaking is a more effective tool. It doesn't matter what disguise you use, on a server with even half decent players you will get spy checked or found out. So there is no best disguise. They are all the same and if you want to be better at Spy I suggest not worry about disguises.

You'll hear a lot of this, but what you disguise as does not matter. Disguises
a) allow you to avoid sentry fire b) are good for when you're seen at a distance away c) work well against people who do not know how to recognise a spy (in other words, new players)
As a reflex action when playing spy I press 4 4, which selects disguise kit, disguise as enemy demoman- it's quick and easy, especially when trying to quickly disguise whilst cloaked. He's found in most places, as is the pyro, so for being seen at long distance/ quick glimpses at the very side of your screen it's useful in that respect. BUT when any decent players sees a disguised spy, the jig's up, no matter what your disguise. Spies never behave like real players, and you cannot blend in in servers with savvy players.
The demo's speed is 93%, which in theory makes him a bad choice, but tbh if you're having to chase a player half way across a map you're playing the spy incorrectly. You need to be smart, cut corners, hit behind bends, and cloak up behind someone, not rely on chasing them (it'll get you killed by his allies if you do anyway). Soldier (80% speed) and heavy (~73%) make this task tougher, but with a mere 7% speed reduction for demoman, it doesn't matter.
Also, whilst cloaked you'll run at spy speed, regardless of disguise.
Edit- R4z0r QFT.

When cloaked, run speed is not affected.

If ps3 players are anything like 360 players, that means that there's not a lot of spychecking and a lot of taking the same path over and over again for free backstabs.
My belief is that disguises are useless, other than sentries. They all have their downsides, and should just be decided by looking at the enemy team. The problems with each: (Note: I'm assuming the hitboxes change with the disguise.)
Scout: Slow scout is obvious spy (but I have been using this sometimes lately after seeing arlan using it; thought about it's hitbox)
Solider: Slow you down
Pyro: Pyros are LOOKING for people with the wrong people's names. Also, burning pyros are funny to see.
Demoman: Slows down slightly, pretty big hitbox.
Heavy: If you can use this, that's pretty awesome. Heavy update time, it might work, though.
Engineer: This one is okay, but make sure it's not out of place.
Medic: No ubercharge percentage
Sniper: Make sure you're in place, and it's not a place where you're get a crit khukiri to the back.
Spy: I use this one mostly, but spies with no mask is sometimes obvious. Also, I've noticed that only peple often to the tf2f servers play spy, and use their mic a lot, and that seems to get me killed.
Note: If you see a tf2f ( {} or [] ) killing a lot of people and you can tell the class, don't disguise as that. Clanfolk use mics, and not having that mic symbol over your head'll get you killed. Try to disguise as bad players. Also, I THINK you can taunt as any disguise, but I haven't tested it. It does make you not able to move for a few seconds when you taunt as a non-spy class.

It does make you not able to move for a few seconds when you taunt as a non-spy class. 1) Hitboxes DO NOT change. 2) Using your mic as spy only gets you killed on ALL-TALK servers. Our servers are NOT ALL-TALK so therefore using your mic while spieing has no effect on TF2F servers. 3)You DO NOT taunt while disguised EXCEPT when you use the Spy disguise. All you do is stand there. MechaEdd, No offense but please get your facts straight before giving advice to new players though we appreciate you trying and I hope I cleared a few things up that others might believe as well.

In response to MechaEdd-
*Your player model changes when you disguise, but not your hitbox. I tried some testing with Star with headshots- as a sniper, you get a headshot on a spy disguised as a scout when you aim a whole head's height above the 'scout's' head. Likewise, disguised as a heavy hitting the 'heavy's' arm will not cause the spy damage (the heavy model is large than the spy hitbox)
*Taunting disguised only freezes you. The enemy sees you standing still.
....too slow
I quote r4z0r for the truth yet again.

Yeah, they'll know better than I do.
In response to Razor:
Okay, thanks for clearing some stuff up for me. What I meant by #2, though, is that people like you, use your mic. And if you disguise as a pyro, and someone finds a pyro that says {TF2F} R4z0r that's not using his mic, then that's a pretty big flag. I knew about the all-talk.
Also, I generate most of my knowledge from the 360 version, where I have 80-some hours on spy, and 60 hours on the next two classes. I'm still not completely familiar with the patches, and what they changed. I've got about 20 on PC spy, so I'm still figuring some stuff out. Thanks, though.

r4zor, i'm quite positive he meant that when someone is talking and you see someone with that player's name and he doesn't have the exclamation point above his head, the game is up.
