Direct X 11 in W7 32

Hi all.

After a few months of not playing TF2, I decided to give it another crack tonight. Upon loading the game and getting into it, I found that when I went to move (this is on the developer commentary btw) the controls to jump would be un-responsive (space bar works fine, can hear sound effects of character jumping), after a few more attemps of jumping on the spot it would work... then (and heres the annoying part) after I go to move, I find that when I walk off ledges, Im suspended in mid air until I hit the jump again, along with all of this going on, I would find myself on the ground or if Im next to a wall I'd clip right through it.

The simple action of travelling up ramps won't work until I hit jump etc etc, I think you get the picture, could this be a problem with W7 DX 11 (I'm starting to think so.

Things I have tried.

I've tried re-installing
Ive tried De-fragging the files
Ive lowered the grapic settings (9600GT)
Restarted the computer
Ran it in windowed mode/ full screen

Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide, I'm not the most technical person in the world when it comes to stuff like this and any help is welcome.

Now I feel really silly, after much mucking around to find a solution, I tried right clicking on the shortcut on the desktop and selecting properties. Once in properties I selected it to run in compatability mode for XP SP3 and everything now works as intended.

I hope this helps anyone else who reads this.


/sigh, it's very late here.

TF2 can't use DX11. You should be able to run it in Win7 without compatibility modes.

Hmm, ok the problem still persits, after exiting the commentary mode and selecting something else (create server for instance) it reverted back to what it was doing before, it seems to be a character/terrain collision issue and am starting to think its something to do with my computer, maybe even the graphics card.

I don't have any issues with any of the other games I play accept this.. even HL2 runs fine with no hassle, any suggestions?

I wasn't aware the 9600 GT was a DX 11 card.
