"Do svidaniya" Translation?

When using the voice command to say "Thanks" while playing as the Heavy, I often hear my character say "Do svidaniya" but I thought that meant "Goodbye" or "See You" in Russian.  Does it also mean "Thank You" or is this a misinterpretation/translation by the game developers?

Well after you kill someone you could be saying, "Thankyou," as in, "Thankyou for letting me dominate you." So instead of saying ,"Thankyou for letting me dominate you," it could be, "Goodbye, you are dead."

Speaking of Russians, there's a Russian guy talking on his cell phone right outside my place. Perhaps I should yell "Do svidaniya!" as
 he leaves...hm.

Do it, do it/! Just make sure you say it right  otherwise he might take it as an insult and the next time he comes back he might bring "Sasha" with him..

Well the heavy isn't the sharpest crayon in the box so...maybe he just hasn't mastered the Russian language.   Or maybe when you use your voice command to thank a medic for the heal he is just saying "bye bye" as he waddles back to the front lines.
