Dustbowl Sentry placements.

Specifically, Stage 1.

It seems to me that Engineers are wasted space on this map, except that sometimes they can be useful inside the cap point or maybe on top of the spawn, but more towards the Health/Ammo packs.  Where else can Sentries be useful on this stage?  You can't really cover the CP with many placements, so where are some places where I could rack up kills and slow down the BLU team?

On Stage 2, where are some effective Sentries at CP 1?  At CP 2. I only find Engineers useful in excess, with 4 or more, because otherwise a Single Uber can tear down your defenses.  If you have 4+Sentries the Ubered is pretty much blasted away right away.  What are some good placements for CP1?

At Stage 3 where are some places that your Sentries are useful for stopping caps, but not very vulnerable?  I'm yet to find one spot except by the Medkit above the tunnel.  In that little hallway, except only if you leave it visible to only people on the CP.

I think the trick to dustbowl is to play strictly to vex and annoy the other team rather than to get kills. If you can piss them off enough, they'll start making mistakes.

It's not that I care about the kills, I want my Sentry guarding key map points, such as the CPs, without being vulnerable and dieing as soon as they are discovered.

Again, one good way to annoy the other team in Dustbowl is to go Super Mass Engi.  12 Engineers on Defense vs. any Offense, and your team is going to be pretty safe because your sentries won't be downed easily.  The combination of super quick fixing and the fact that the Sentries pushing enemies will basically mean they can't do as much as they'd hope, even with Ubers.

I'm yet to test this, but it's worked with 4 Engineers, so I'm assuming it'd work really well with 12.  I wanna try that one day.  It would be really fun.  You could build a level 3 in like 10 seconds....

lol, I've seen that! You'd be amazed how fast a sentry goes up with eleven engies whacking away at it. The other team really coulden't push much.

A single uber can mostly tear down any defense of a single engi ; ) . One engi alone is not that effective, but two can turn the tide of the battle.

@The Fungineer:  That'd be hilarious!  I bet the Engineers would win though...

Anyway, does anyone want to answer the question- on topic?  I'm really looking for some good spots.

in area 2 the best spot is outside their respawn area with a couple of pyros to pick off the spys... is it not?

You mean like right at the gate?  That wouldn't help much because it would be way too easily taken out.  Not to mention that my job as an Engi is to guard off important sections of the maps like CPs and commonly used paths with uncommon sentry spots.

With 5 engineers hitting 1 sentry, it goes up in less than 6 seconds.

On topic: I like to put mine on the railroad track "bridge". (The high route to the one way door.) It's hard to be specific without pictures, but it either covers the left side entrance, or the main entrance.
