Its being an interesting time for TeamFortress2. Not only has Valve hinted at a possible Soldier Update but they also slapped us in the face hard with a highly likely and belivable new game mode ala King of the Hill, which should have been entered the game long ago I may add.
But no. I think a lot of people can agree with me that the bread and butter class of the game, Soldier, is perfectly alright and needs a complete redoing like he needs a hole in the head. Personally the next class update should be Engineer because really while all others have had the full treatment all Valve have done for our favorite Texan is given him the Level 3 upgrades for all and more things to be hit by. So, after a few hours sat down humming to myself (my days off are known for their ecentricity, I really need a hobby)

THE ENGINEER UPDATE. Showing a faster paced, more offensive side of the engie. Once you've seen him blugeon to death a Demo/Medic Combo over the loss of one his buildings(The Alamo) or seen him leading the charge towards the enemy base from the cover of the Mule's wooden ramp, you'll never view him as a turtiling non-doer ever again.
THE JACKHAMMER.

Replaces Sentry Gun.
Takes 100 Metal to Build
Takes 10 seconds to build. 5 if beaten with Wrench.
Carries 75 bullets (Normal level1. Sentry carries around 44).

The Jackhammer is a Level one Sentry doing the same damage it normally would to anyone dumb enough to get in its path however, you can't upgrade it further to any other levels. Whaaaaaa??? you say. So I'm stuck with this piece of junk at peashooting level. Why the hell would I choose this over the normal kind?
Well, get this. Not only does The Jackhammer have 3x the maximum targeting distance of a normal Sentry. Imagine you and an other engie setting up Jackhammers near a final point on Granuary and it being able to shoot people coming out of the two gates. Overpowered? Heck no. Having the same dismal health of a normal Level 1 Sentry you're going to still have a tough time against Snipers, Ambassodor Spies, Soldiers, Demomen, Pistol carriers and Remington Engineers. Ubercharging Snipers just became a valid tactic.
And finally, has you ever felt burdened to stay in one area by your buildings even though your fellow team-mates are free to move around? Well the Mule fixed the dispenser problem but what about the other half, easy, simply hoist the Jackhammer onto your back, walk to where you want to put it and plop it down as you would choosing where to build it. The setback? Engie isn't no Heavy. Walking with the Jackhammer putsyou onto quite a loss of speed (Just slower then the Soldier) but no probs. The Jackhammer just keeps on firing near enough limitless which is why it carries a lot more ammo then its older brothers. And if you do happen to die it'll just rest its self down nicely on your corpse still firing until someone finally shoots it. All this is good too, as you can't use any weapons with it on your back. Better watch out for them pesky Spies then. They're going for the ultimate sap&stab and you can't do ANYTHING about it.
