Engineer needs a nerf or buff?

Just want to know your opinion. There are some people who think the engineer is really overpowered, and some who think he is underpowered. Just state your opinion on if he needs a nerf or a buff.

Personaly I think he is almost completely balanced. Amazing firepower, but no mobility. Just try to get rid of certain teleporter exploits.

The only nerf I think they need is a class limit of 2. Engineers are only overpowered when there are 3-4+, because at that point you can no longer take them out by good positioning to stay out of line of sight, you have to have an uber, and if you have to be invincible to beat something, then there is something wrong with it. I think the whole sentry farm->uber rush strategy is really boring and would prefer if it was out of the game.

I concur with Chaos. On servers with a larger # of players, the game often plays out with the attacking team taking down a couple enemy sentries, but dying by another one - by the time they return, the sentries are rebuilt. This makes the game a never-ending stalemate - and it takes an attacking team that's really good and effective to overcome this.

I will also agree that I think that perhaps the game might be best without any sentries whatsoever. Of course, this is not possibly without some balance issues (that is, make it harder to capture points or intelligence, easier to defend maps).

Actually, I don't think there needs to be a class limit. With more sentries they sacrifice offensive power for defensive power. While you may not be able to get to them, they don't have as many offensive classes to take your control point. At least for maps like granary.

On other maps like dustbowl they are a bit more powerful, but any competent uber demoman, or even pyro can take out any sentries they have set up.

Personally I think the engineer needs a good upgrade. There are too many things in the game designed specifically to destroy his things with ease.

Spies main enemy is the engineer, and a good spy, combined with the engineers team not good at spy checking, can wreck havoc if the sentry is not being covered by other sentries. Ubers can kill a sentry no problem, and if the target and medic is good, then it can effectively take out 2-3 sentries. And last is the soldier and demo, both can take out sentries, the soldier popping in and out of corners, or the demo getting a good angle. If a demo starts to lay down stickeys right on top of the senty, unless someone takes him out fast, the sentry is gone for sure.

Too many things seem to be made to kill a sentry, and unless he is on a good team, an engineer can't hold out on his own.

From my engineering experience, I'd say the sentries could use a little more HP. Not a lot, but enough to make it possible for a lone engineer to survive a large rush of enemies, or maybe a dying Uber. Otherwise, I think the engineer is very balanced.

Sentries need more health, less damage, more pushback, pushback caps at 2 sentries to remove the flying against the skybox crap the instant you step out.

i say theyre fine. they are easy to take out on their own and still fairly easy if the engis there. most maps are set up so people can always be out of range of the sentry so a soldier or demo can shoot at it without taking fire. carts can be pushed even if a sentries there as u can crouch to avoit it. however, multiple sentries can effectively cover an area until an uber takes one or more out. this leaves a hole to take out more sentries safely. rebuilding the sentry will either take a lot of time or engis can leave their sentries to put it up faster. a demo can take everyone out leaving multiple sentries exposed
