Hello, just recently I've been working on a TF2 map of my own and so far its fleshing out nicely. I've already read the Hammer map optimization guide through a few times and I've been making good use of the func-detail.

I have searched through this site and Google, but my searches revealed very little information.

I remember reading somewhere that in Hammer you can turn your ability to see func_details on and off so that you can see your level with and without them, at the time I read it I didn't care very much and now that I do care I cant find any info anywhere.

Is there a way to toggle your ability to see func_details in Hammer? If not, is there a way to select all of your func_details at once so that I could just move them aside and move them back later?

Also, I am wondering if there is any way to see a preview of your selected lighting in Hammer, as I would like to get an idea of how bright each area will be before I compile it. I also am not to concerned about if the pre-compile lighting is completely accurate or not, I just need an example before I compile.

Thats pretty much it, any info would be appreciated.

Isaak, there's a "Vis Group" panel in hammer, default position is on the right hand side of the screen. The panel has two tabs, "User" and "Auto". Bring "Auto" to the front, and expand it if need be. You see that both 'props' and 'func_details' are listed under 'world details'.
Simply uncheck the box to hide these things.

As for a lighting preview, there is one, but it's not very good. I used it once and found that everything is a LOT darker in the preview than it will be when compiled. To use it, click on where it says 'camera' in the top left of the 3D window. You'll get a list of modes that can be shown. The "3D ray traced preview" should be better than "lighting preview", but like I say, neither of them are good indications of what the final result will look like. It can also take a while to generate the preview, so be patient with it.
