alright, so batman arkham asylum is great, and i want to get the dlc, but games for windows live is giving me problems. i start it up and it says "Microsoft .NET Framework is required. Install it now?" so if i click no, windows live does not start up, so i click yes. it goes through about half the installation and the says "setup.exe has stopped working" The error log reads:

i've tried re-installing windows live, installing .net manually, restarting my computer but to no avail. im running vista 32-bit btw. any help is greatly appreciated.

You have SP1, I assume? I have only heard of this happening on non-SP1 Vista machines. The problem is that you're missing a component of .Net that is causing the installer to fail.

Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0SP1

You're missing the "3.0SP1" component, which suggests a few missing updates. You can try this download to install the required package. There is .Net 3.5, but cross that bridge when you come to it.

yea i do have sp1. i tried that download but it said "This product is not supported on Windows Vista System" Every time i run the setup it doesnt have to download the 20mb file after the first time. where would i find those file to delete them? i cant really find a .NET folder. ive deleted all the setups and have no idea where it starts downloading and installing to

Okay, you can try this download, which is for Vista and 7. I don't know if clearing the cache will help, but I'm not sure how to do it.

My, that's perplexing.

As a last resort, you can try the .Net Framework cleaner that should remove any traces of .Net on your machine. Afterward, reboot and try installing GFW Live again. It recommends trying the standard uninstall/reinstall procedure first, but I think you're beyond that.

I can't count how many times I've re-installed windows in the past few months. Just partition your HDD so you have your data separated from that windows drive.

alright although i am insanley frustrated, i will not show it here.

i used windows updater and it didnt work either =(

i did get error code: Code 800703EE

i really am getting pissed. ive tried installing in safe mode, ive tried running as administrator, ive tried windows installer cleanup. nothing has worked. i have googled the error and whatnot, but to no avail. i am so close to reinstalling windows
