If you haven't played this before, I recommend checking Geometry Wars out. It's a pretty simple game, but is still fun and intense, as well as slightly addicting. It also only costs $4. Geometry Wars originated on the 360, so this is a port of the game. As I understand it, there was online leaderboards in the 360 version, but they aren't in this version. However, this game is very definitely worth the $4. I recommend playing it with a gamepad, as it feels more natural than a mouse and keyboard. My wired 360 controller is supported, but I don't know what other kinds of gamepads are. Just a heads up there.

The long and short of it is that I recommend trying out Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.

I have the DS version, which is fun.

There is a free alternative to geometry wars called gridwars and it can be found at http://gridwars.marune.de/
it accepts gamepads, and I use my 360 gamepad with it.

I fail at it too. It's still extremely fun, though.
