Girlfriend's Computer Died - SOS?

I wasn't there when it happened, and I'm no expert on these matters. I trust you guys so, I'm just gonna relay the information she provided me.

Comp Model: T6216 Desktop PC - eMachines

Processor: AMD Athlon 64-Bit Processor 3200+ 2GHz
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 6100 PCI-Express

She was on a word document a few days ago. In the middle of completing her teacher's application, she encountered, as she so eloquently put, "a blue screen with numbers and words" (blue screen of death T_T) and she panicked, pressed a random key, and her computer shut off.

Now, when she turns on the computer, it runs, but the monitor and keyboard doesn't respond (no lights, etc.). I dunno about the mouse, it's the archaic ball kind, and I'm sure it's defunct as well. They're both PS/2. Apparently today, the keyboard numlock light was on, even when her comp is off. She unplugged it and plugged it back in, now it's just dead.

She already unplugged and replugged her PC components a few times, and rebooted it. Still no luck.

Now I want to pretend to be the man in her life, so I don't want to bring it to a hardware store - wherever she bought it. I wanna be Mr. Fix-It xD Any suggestions?

got a spare keyboard and mouse handy?  You say she unplugged and replugged some things?  lol....I'd check that out.

id open up the case and make sure all the connections to the video card and mobo are fully plugged in and try again, no monitor input or keyboard input sounds like either a video card or mobo went bad...

1. unplug and replug in the keyboard, mouse and monitor
2. unplug the computer and replug it in.
3. Chastise her for buying an emachine.
4.  Look for lights on the back of the computer, tell us if they are blinking and if they are near any ports that you know of.
5. look for the caps lock light.
6. tell her how you really feels, try to drop a tear or two.
7. have sex with girlfriend.
8. while she is tired out get up and take the computer to a repair shop you pussy.

she's had this computer for about a year now. She doesn't touch any hardware except the peripherals - so I doubt it's the connections. And it's not just the keyboard, and mouse, but the monitor as well.

well if its not connection then somethings broken... and considering nothing works atm... im betting the mobo is fried or ONE OF THE CONNECTIONS INSIDE THE COMPUTER IS LOOSE.

Does it beep at all when you first turn it on?  If so, is it a single short beep or a series of beeps? 

You can also try re-seating the RAM.

A similar thing happened to me a while back. My computer would turn on but nothing would come up on the monitor and nothing was POSTing. Turned out I just needed to re-seat the RAM.

I don't mean to flame, but eMachines are HORABLE.
Their hardware is crap... so a hardware issue sounds right to me.
