Has nobody noticed this engineer technique?

So one day I was playing engineer, right clicked for some reason and BAM! I dropped all my metal and it was all laying before my feet. I was like, wow! I can give my teammates ammo on the fly!

So whenever I heard someone in need of ammo, I went up to them and gave them a present. I haven't done it recently because I don't play engineer much, but how come I don't see people doing that more often? Does anybody else know that the engineer can give some of his metal to his teammates.

Now that you can upgrade dispensers and teleporters to level 4 there's really no situation in which you'd want to do that.

Dude, you were on some crazy server. Engies can't do that on vanilla. At all.

Sentries also have homing crit rockets.

And pyros can play dodgeball with them.

No I mean level 4, haven't you ever played this game?

first built they are level 1, 2,3,4 final upgrade.  You played on a server with a mod.  More importantly what engineers should know is that other engineers drop -all- the metal they have on them.  So if an engineer has 200 metal and you kill him, set something up because when you get his weapon you'll get all 200 metal.  At the same time if you're an offensive engineer and are going to die build something really quick or go into the fight with low metal.  If you have 20 metal he'll only get 20 (instead of the default 100) when he picks up your weapon.

Now I will bring up weapons factory again because that was one of the legit things to do in the game.  You could drop ammo at anytime, this includes the defenders dropping ammo for the engineer to upgrade his sentry.  I think you should be able to scrap half of your ammo for primary/secondary and drop 100 ammo box for the engineer or another teammate.  Some people may be upset that a medic shouldn't beable to drop ammo for his soldiers, but i think thats a legit use for it.  You could add different types of ammo in the game, but I'm sure that would just get 'complicated' when most other games have that system.
