Okay, this is the only forum I lurk/visit on a semi-regular basis, so I need help from you guys with headphone selection, if any of you know anything. I'm hoping to spend no more than $40 on them (most of the time when I think of high quality headphones my mind wanders into the $80 range..) and it's pretty much required that they cancel noise (there are 12 people living in my house right now, 5 of whom are little girls that scream at any point in time a clock's hands can point to). I'm not really sure what to expect posting this here, but any online stores or specific brands you know of or have experience with would be great.

Well, it depends on what type of headphones you want? Wireless could be costly, ear buds are cheap but don't cancel out noise well and don't do surround sound. Around the back of the head or over the top? How long of cord? Need more info.

Right, sorry. Over ear, preferably. Over head as well. I'm too white to pull off back of the head. Chord length doesn't matter, anything over 3.5 feet should be fine. Maybe not something ostentatious like a 10 foot chord, though. I don't care for wireless, either. I just want a sturdy pair of headphones that will cancel out the rest of life and make sure I can find all the subtleties of Panda Bear.

Those look awesome! More than anything I like the warranty, my headphones are put through both hell and high water. In the introduction, it mentioned these

Whatever you buy make sure you read every review on the site. I'd say 90% of the time they are accurate and they have always helped me make good decisions on buying new gear.

Cheap Sennheisers are meh but the more expensive ones around 100$ are awesome.
