Lately I've been playing Kedic (a term I just coined for Kritz and Medic) in arena. Usually I never played medic that much but I'm finding it as a nice alternative if I just feel like playing healer one day or our team needs one and people seem to refuse to go medic.

One of the problems I've encountered is that sometimes I'm the only healer on the team and everybody is hurt. There's been a two situations which I'm curious of what other peoples answers are.

Situation 1: I started healing a pyro first, then a solider runs around the corner with red health screaming "medic!" in my ear. The pyro is not fully healed yet.
What I usually do is tell the solider over voice chat that I know he needs healing and I'm just finishing up with the pyro. This way he knows that I'm aware of his need and its not that I'm ignoring him. However if something comes around the corner would I prefer to have a solider buffed and ready to defend me or a pyro? Would anyone stop healing the pyro and go for the solider, or does everyone keep healing the pyro because "he was there first"?

Situation 2: Two soliders come at me at the same time, both with red health.
I try to heal one up to at least until the health indicator goes white, and then switch to get the other solider to buffed, and the finally buff the last solider. I found that this way if one of them gets attacked I can immediately switch back to the one who needs me the most. I don't know if theres any "right way" to handle this, if anyone can suggest any alternatives.

Also I'll be totally honest. If theres a player that's doing well I'll be more likely to heal him first, or if theres no healing/buffing to be done then I'll latch onto him and follow him around.

For either it depends how red the player is. If they're sitting on 20 hp or less you should bump them up for a second just to make sure they don't get killed by a stray sneeze. Assuming they're not on the absolute edge of death, for the first situation I'd buff the pyro up until he runs away while telling the solly to hang on a sec. Pyros are pretty much useless if they're entering combat at less than 75% health so it's important to get them up. Then swap to the solly.

For situation 2, you've got the right idea. If they're both really hurt then it's going to be 10 seconds or more before you're fighting no matter what, so let them know to hang back. Get the more damaged one to 50%, then switch and buff the 2nd one all the way up to 150%. By the time that's over you should be able to speed heal the second one up to 150% in just a few seconds. If possible, tell one to go grab a nearby healthpack.

In pubs all this goes out the window. I always prioritize tf2f people because I can typically count on them to get the job done. I pick a primary patient or two and keep them at 150% to the exclusion of all others. Randoms only get heals if they follow me or wait their turn.

1. Those on Fire are Priority #1.
2. Medics are Priority #2.
3. Heal people "enough" and shift to another person who's near death.  Those who are healed "partially" can go back to battle or wait their turn to get full/buffed.  They should play more cautiously until you can get back to them, or if they have beef with that, they can sit n' spin, and maybe next round go Medic and help YOU out.

Aside from that, it's run o' the mill - rule is that it only takes 1 second to overbuff a player to 150% health when they are healed, and that takes 15-20 seconds to taper back off, so even if you have people pass you by, give them a 1 second jolt to set them up and over.

"Wait yer turn."  It's what they taught us in kindergarten, and it stands to this day.

I'm guessing burning medics come pretty high here.

They're somewhere between 1 and 2.  You know us Medics - part Paramedic, part Firefighter.

Hehe, all situational but as Aegis said people on fire are 1 and medics 2, also as always Cyns write-up is spot on.

When you've got a lot of people to deal with tell them to be patient and safe. Quite often I've found myself saying over the voice comm "I've got a lot of people to heal, stay safe and sit tight for one second and I'll fix you up good" or some goofy shit like that, and to be honest it works. Just communicate effectively when in the tense situations where you have 5 people dancing around you needing heals, there could be 3 in deep red and 2 on fire and hell lets mix in a opposing spy and a bunch of spam raining from above shall we, let's not forget the sniper dot you see dancing around everyone of your patients.. yes that too. You just gotta keep a cool head and at the same time make sure YOU are protected, it's easy to worry about others soo much that you get yourself killed. It's a lot easier said than done but it's up to you to take complete control of the situation. With time spent it becomes easier and easier as you pick up little niches and so on like who you can buff to 50% and expect them to stay around as you switch back and forth between people and so on, and who you need to get above 75% or so ASAP.. as Cyn brought up.

Here's my list.

1. People on fire
2. Medics
3. Classes with lighter health, because they get to full quicker
4. Classes with higher health because they heal slower.

For all whoever has lower health. If a heavy is in red and a medic has 3/4 heal the heavy.

and if a heavy taunts while ubered for that achievement I will never heal him for the rest of the match.

I attatch to a heavy and never let go. Except for the passing by heavy hitters for a quick buff.
