Why not? if each shell is loaded with shot, instead of a bullet, it's a shotgun. A multi-bareled full-auto externally powered shotgun, but still a shotgun!
A shot gun????? You've got to be kidding me....
A shot gun fires a cartridge loaded with metal pellets.
Upon firing a shotgun, the cartridge leaves the barrel and splits open in mid-air to release the metal pellets. The metal pellets are scattered(hence the scatter gun name as well) everywhere, making the shotgun a deadly but short-ranged and inaccurate weapon.
How in the world can the HW guys' minigun be a shotgun? First of all his gun doesn't even fire cartridges. It fires bullets.
Secondly, the HW guy's minigun is relatively much more accurate in firing bullets as compared to the spraying of metal pellets in a shotgun.
I think you might have confused the "200" ammo that the HW guy has. I agree with Fluffy Tiger Plushie that it is just a unit for the amount of ammo the HW guys has, not the actual number of bullets he has.
