Hey all..
Im looking to be buying a pc soon, maybe in time for christmas?
Ive been searching for components on the web, but im really lost, i have no idea what is good and what is bad.
I know that i would like a quad-core, with 4+gb of ram, and a GTX260, or equivelent.
If you could help me to find these parts i would be extremely grateful.
I have a budget of around £600/$1000 , but this could be stretched slightly if needed. Obviously, the cheaper the better.
Also, if possible, could you use these websites
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home
http://www.dabs.com/
As these both ship to UK.
Thanks for your time,
Russ.

Everyone is at work/school.  I'd give it another few hours.  Also: Steam message X.Static and Hellblazer.

I heartily recommend Core i7. With a $1000 budget, you'll have to settle with a weaker graphics card (read: low high-end), but it's definitely worth it. I don't have enough time or energy to come up with a build, but I'm sure anything I come up with will be identical to what hellblazer or x.static post.

Don't forget about AMD. If you're not going to do video editing, CAD/modeling, or photoshoppy-ish things, AMD has very similar performance for gaming to Intel, who's setup (mobo, ram, proc) all cost more for equivalent gaming performance.

What rating is the case power supply? It might not drive all the things you have there. Case PSUs are usually cheap anyway. You'll want to look into that.

Also, if you have a little extra room after a proper power supply, you could probably jump from 2.33 GHz to 2.6 or 2.8. It makes a difference.

Other than that, not bad at all.

Doesnt say, but i could get a 500 watt power supply for only £10 more?
Edit: Make that 600 watt

Also, theres a motherboard that is 'Quad-core supported'
Do i have to buy this for the Quad core CPU to work?

Your board should be fine for the CPU. I read the specs, it's listed for Quad-core support.

You can pick up a decent 600 watt power supply for about 95 American (~55 £ .) Nicer ones cost more, but it's worth it for having one that's stable and reliable. Antec is a good brand, and I've had good experiences with the Xclio and HEC brands. Search around, you can find bargains.
