How do your rocketjump?

I'm just wondering,what is 'the' trick to a high/far/good rocketjump ?
When I try to rocketjump myself up to something(for example) i mostly end up with a 2meter jump and 50 health damage

I don't play this class that often but if I do,i want to be a good soldier at it that knows how to rocketjump

So any help on this one ?

Look down, jump crouch fire very quickly.

I have noticed that it plays a big role what kind of mouse and keyboard you use.
I have tried a few different keyboards and mice and the timing for the rocketjumps are a bit different for all of them..
In generel you do as Chupathingy says though.
Start en empty server and try to get the timing right.

I now usually rocket jump by :
1. Turn 90 degrees right.
2. Strafe left.
3. Shoot, jump and crouch alomst at the same time.

By varying the angle you shoot you can either do a high jump or a horizontal jump, or something in between.

(With ny old mouse this procedure was very hard, but with the new one with higher DPI there is no problem.)

Then there is an important type of wall strafing rock jump, which is useful when you want to do fast and long horizontal jumps.
1. Face a wall.
2. Strafe left (or right)
3. Shoot behind you (so the rocket hits the wall a bit) and duck jump alomst at the same time.
