Hey guys, sorry for making my first post a tech support question, but I've been trying to get my Left for Dead 2 (no hate on buying l4d2 please, that's not what this thread's about), and keep getting the aforementioned error message.

"Incomplete Installation of Left for Dead 2 Demo (2)."

The game opens, plays the opening video, the menu graphic flashes for a moment, then it minimizes and a steam box opens which reads:

Completing Installation...

Which is soon replaced with my error message. I've googled for all the know fixes and none have worked for me. I've deleted my blobs, run as admin, restarted steam as well as my rig and the hard drive Steam runs on several times, deleted the local content and re-installed, and verified the game data.

I really can't figure this out. I'd love any help you guys can offer, no point getting an early demo if it never works. :\

Once again, thanks for any input the community might have, as always, all help is appreciated.

I don't get it, the point of a demo is to calm the fears of gamers who havn't decided if they are going to buy the game. Then why would anyone just give the demo to the people that have already decided they wanted to buy the game?

Ahh, to make people buy the game so they can say they played it before anyone else.

People like to feel special, and that's what Valve has done.

At first I was disappointed, but I probably had a lot more fun playing the TF2 Halloween Update's contents than I would have playing L4D 2.

If anyone wants to get those achievements I am definitely up for helping them.

Really sorry to bump this, but I'm getting the feeling that most threads aren't touched after they slide of the Latest Posts page.

I know I'm relatively new to these forums, but I'd really appreciate any suggestions you guys might have, and I'm sure that once the demo is publicly released many of you will begin to have the same problems, so it'd be beneficial to have them already solved.

I am having the exact same problem.

God I hate Microsoft. Haven't heard of anyone having problem on XP or Windows 7.
I'm hoping that this is just the demo (or the pre-release of the demo), and my actual game will work when it eventually comes out.

I find it hard to believe that no one (of the >9000 people) here have had this or a similar problem, or know of a way to quick fix it.

We don't actually have over 9000 members.

Also, while I can't believe I'm saying this, you might want to try posting this on the Steam forums.

That fixes the problem perfectly. Or at least, it fixed mine at Step 2 (out of 4). If anyone's having difficulty with the demo just check out that thread.
