You'd think I'd either be really good or really bad if you watched me play the game as a sniper.

There are moments when I'll score 0-1 point in a whole round, missing some of the easiest shots known to mankind.

Then I'll play another round and just utterly rape, pulling off mid-air headshots, killing half the team in a few seconds and mostly being an utter Snuts wannabe.

It's starting to aggravate me that I can not be one or the other, I merely switch almost consistently throughout a mtach between those two accuracy sets.  Either I'm "Streaking good" or "streaking bad".

Any clue as to what is going on?

I have the same problem with the revolver. Some days I can land direct hit aftter direct hit, alowing me to escape, and others I use up two whole crips to find not one of them got the pyro who was attacking me.

For me at least, I have two explainations-
1, The opposition. Moreso for a sniper, but some players can dodge and weave making for difficult targets, whilst others will happily walk in a  straight line right before being headshot. An unlikely option, but an option none-the less.

2. The other reason is kinda odd- I find I aim better when I don't think. If I think too much, I get clumsy, trying to aim deliberately. On game as spy I was shooting perfect shots, and I realised I wasn't thinking about them. My hand was making odd jerking motions each shot, and they all came off clean. Personally, I think if you don't concentrate overly hard, muscle memory starts to have a greater impact on how well you do.

BUT these are just my weird little theories- I'd be interested in seeing who else has this problem!

Is there any chance you're lacking focus when you're doing bad? Or perhaps you just have you extreme highs and extreme lows.

Works the same way for me backstabs/revolver shots. When I'm not really trying to get a backstab, I seem to get them no problem; but when I really NEED one, it bugs out I get the animation and no stabby. I'm sure it's just my imagination, but still.

I'm like this in every aspect of life. You just need to concentrate on increasing the skill level of you're 'lower' self. You cannot control the 'better' self. It will come and go as it pleases.

I lack performance when I'm concentrating hard. I know. Especially for sniping too.

I have the exact same problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if "thinking too much" was the answer, either.

You're trying too hard.  I used to have the same problem, like there would be a medic standing still and I'd go "I have to shoot him as fast as possible so he can't run away!"  No.  Take your time on easy shots, chances are if you actually take your time on your shots you'll do a lot better than you would by speed aiming.
