I just want to say that I appreciate you guys having a server setup the way you do.

No-Crits, 3 round win before team scramble, otherwise vanilla.  Perfecto IMO, and just wanted to let those responsible know it's appreciated.  I've frequented the server as often as I could when players are present - really enjoy the game without random crits.  Danke.

IF.... I had to pick 1 thing that I didn't like (aside from the times when it's empty....) it would be that it has map voting that comes up automatically on you and believe it or not, I've died at least 2 times I know of when I wanted to change to a Syringe Gun or Saw from my Medi-Gun, and pressing 1/3 ended up voting for something which I had no idea of.  It's more of a usability thing.  Is there a way we can provide our Steam ID to be excluded from these random votes or is it just something we're subject to?

(When I do catch those things coming up, I usually just press 1 as fast as I can to get it off, without reading it over - cause as soon as you take your eyes off the game... FRAGGED!.)

I'm not sure if this would work, but you could try binding your keys to press slot1 or w/e twice.

ie. instead of:

bind 1 "slot1"
use
bind 1 "slot1;slot1"

Either that or bind your weapons to the mouse wheel. Or bind 1-3 to specific weapons instead of to slot1-3.

edit: but yeah, tf2f arena server is awesome. No waiting, no crits, and team balance that's actually relevant. You rarely get to 5 wins with people leaving and joining.

You'd probably need a wait:

bind 1 "slot1; wait; slot1"

So it waits a frame, otherwise the two slot1's will be put together. It has a results screen so safer would be: "bind 1 slot1; wait; slot1; wait; slot1" But it's getting big now.

I've never experienced this issue personally, but can understand how it could be frustrating.  I very rarely use the number keys to change weapons though relying on last weapon switch and a dedicated mele button on my mouse.  I know nothing about server config, but if it's possible to make the map poll come up after the round ends and before the next one starts would work too.  Plus it gives you a chance to actually play a map through (assuming you've never played it before before rating it.)  It would be nice if there is a filtering system that can retain your responses based on Steam ID or Game name so that you do not get repeatedly polled on maps you have already rated.

That being said.  Yes!  I too love the Arena server.  It's a great place to hang out while waiting for a spot to open up on one of the normal servers.   I sometimes feel a bit guilty when I am waiting in que to join one of our servers and join another only to be sucked away from the first game once a slot opens.  I like that the Arena format if brief so that I don't feel like I am leaving a team in the lurch for to long.

To all the folks who were playing on the Arena server last night with me, I had a great time.  Look forward to doing it again sometime.

I've seen instances where it prompts you to hit Esc to bring up the voting. Nice non-intrusive voting that way.

The "double tap" sounds like a nice idea - like I was saying, it's a minor inconvenience (as of lately I've been losing more lives to accidentally opening the console or bringing up the Steam Community for some darn reason)

I put the Steam Community Button all the way over on keypad 5 just to avoid this.  Even I can't think of a way I'll accidentally hit that while playing.
