I know everyone here has either faced or has been a part of it. Mass engineer turtling at the intelligence or important caps (but mostly the intelligence). I mean, whe n youre a part of it, sure its hella fun with all the other engies around and the constant 'whee.whee.' of the sentries. Buuuut when youre facing it, it can be a curse. Now dont get me wrong im not trying to tell engies to stop doing it, because lets face it, its what engies do best. Anyway back to the point...on a personal experience i think that the demoman is the best class to break this mass-turtling up.

One time when  playing 2fort against a team half full of engies me and a medic (but let me say this medic was brilliant!) made our way down to the intel room where the engies were turtling. The first place that they were doing it was when you come down the stairs to the intel place, and the first entrance to the intel on your dead right (like a 180* turn) there was about 3 sentries crammed in there. Everyone says that the stickies are a demos best friend, and i mostly agree with them buuuuut i think a lotta demos underestimate the nades power. Because by simply lobbing about 6 nades around the corner all the sentries were down (level 3s) alongside their engies and dispensers. Then i moved on into the main intel room and lobbed more at the sentries in the corners and luckily i guess some of them were criticals, but none the less it worked REALLY well and me and the medic managed to return the intel home.

My point is...well there are two really, is that the nades are very underestimated and that demos are the best anti-turtling class out there =D

I guess so. Since they are the only nade class. They can clear rooms pretty fast

Oh yeah..by far, as long as they have a damn ubercharge to keep them alive, it pisses me off to no end when a medic will uber a soldier to try and take out 2+ sentrys, useless.

I also have to disagree with your grenade statement, they CAN work, but firing a mass of stickies is WAY more efficient, plus(if ubered)you still have time to fire off another 4-6 nades. Again it pisses me off to no end when a medic will uber a demoman and all he does is fire 6-8 grenades in, he can't even get more out because they reload+fire, which takes even longer. USE YOUR STICKIES!!!

i do use stickies! xD and i LOVE them! but yea i guess your right, because with the stickies you can get a lot more range and radius + if using on a level3 sentry if you use nades the engineer will be able to heal it in time before the next round of nades come and then your dead, but with the stickies you can just pile on (even though three are enough) and all the engineer can do it shit himself xD

But im just saying that a lotta people underrate the nades because they are uselful for quickfiring and covering other players and of course spamming but really your bettter off shooting a few stickies over =D

ffs, I had a really long and informative post half-written and the frickin' forums ate it. Can't be bothered typing it out again so I'm going to say yes. Demo's > turtling engy's.

Plus the sticky grenades do about 15 to 25 more damage than the regular grenades.
Grenades are better for clearing out a room full of sentries though, especially in chilli pepper's where there were three sentries in a narrow corridor, where you can easily bounce the grenades in without exposing yourself.
The advantage of sticky grenades is that there is no chance for the engineers to repair because their sentry is blown away once the stickies are detonated.
Also, if those engineers were smart they would of rushed out and blasted you with their shotguns counting on the fact that the medic would continue to heal you and you would be reloading your grenades.  If you were using the stickies then you could of switched to your grenade launcher and blasted them point blank.
That must of been a great feeling taking out all those sentry guns at once though
Good job!

When I play as an engineer, if I ever see a sticky come my way I pull out my handgun and shoot them away as fast as possible. The quick reload times of the handgun really help in dispersing the stickies away from my Turret.

yea thats true but most engies dont notice them and if they do a lot of them just keep on smackng the sg with their monkey wrench...which gets them and their gun dead =D

plus it only takes 2 to kill the engy and most of the time the engy is right near the gun. Most engies definitely don't shoot the stickies away either.
