Well ive noticed that the scout tips & strategies didn't have a guide, so i decided to make one. Enjoy!
1. Always, ALWAYS, no matter what, keep moving around, i can not stress this enough to new scout players.
2.Count your scattergun shots. Scattergun shots do 85-105 damage close range giving you 95 average damage per shot., thats alot of power, two close range shots and your enemy should be dead if they are a spy, sniper, scout, medic, demoman, pyro, or engineer. The scattergun is one of the most deadly weapons in team fortress two due to the fact that it usually kills 7/9 of the TF2 classes in 2 shots.
3. Don't be afraid to take out your pistol. At medium range the scatter gun only does 10-40 damage averaging at 25 damage per shot, you dont really want to waste precious ammo if you cant even get a clear shot at them t.. do you? So whip out your pistol, it doesn't do much damage at medium range about 15 average, but it has a very fast shot and it reloads quickly.
4. I never use the bat unless im out of scatter gun ammo and i'm fighting someone significantly slower than me. I dont use the bat right now so i dont have much data on it, (will update later.)
5. Watch your health, it's not bad to go back to the resupply for health.
6. Remember, you're a scout, you're meant to capture control points, steal intell, and heckle enemies, not head straight to a fragfest.
7. Always take the path less traveled if your trying to get the intell, or if your trying to get to the cp, it should be common sense but w/e just to put it in here.
feel free to correct me on anything im wrong about, and add on things. Thank You!

From all the greater Scouts I've seen, hardly aim at all. They move themselves, with a tiny movement of the mouse, and let the enemy walk into your crosshair. So a lower sensitivity could be something I guess. But I'm a twitcher when it comes to Scout:3 Also, the Scout is the one that can use the environment the most, jumping up to ledges, buildings, yada yada. Explore and remember where these places are, to set up an ambush, or hide. I ALWAYS use bat when I get close Nothing more satisfying then batting a heavy to death and then yell "I'm the friggin batman!"

My most useful tip; know where the health packs are, you going to need them! Also, anyone that questions the bats integrity, I took out a heavy/med and a solly/med combo, using only the bat the other day. That has no relevance, I just wanted to brag, was epic......

Tip for console players: (Although I doubt many people on here play the console versions) bind jump to a different button than A(360)/X(PS3). It's really hard to double-jump and aim at the same time if you have to move your thumb back and forth to do them both. I myself have it on Left Bumper (L1 for PS3 users), since scouts don't need secondary fire, I can have my finger on LB instead of LT/L2.

Personally I've never had a problem using good ol' spacebar, it's the only thing my left thumb has to do, aside from voice chat. I leave the movement to the keyboard, and the aim/weps to the mouse. My setup is such that up on the wheel is scattergun (and scattergun only, not rotation), down is pistol, and my thumb-button mouse4 is the bat. Very intuitive and easy to use i've found, and I use it for all my classes in that setup (primary, secondary, melee). Works for me

Jump to mousewheel? I don't think I'd ever get used to that. oO

Why? All you're doing by moving it to mousewheel is increasing the chance that jumping will throw off your aim. Please explain.

Hmm I couldn't imagine jumping with the mousewheel. I have attack binded to my mousewheel for scout though. Just roll it a few times and the pistol becomes a machine gun.
