Hey I got TF2 not too long ago and scout was always the class I wanted to perfect and be good at.

I have about 20 hours on scout and I just cant seem to aim at my opponents.  I usually get about 2-3 kills a death which sucks with 20 hours of playtime..

What usually happens is I see someone come up and maybe get 1 good shot on him/her and then I have problems when they move around.  I might shoot a couple rounds but miss and then get killed, or take a ton of bullets to kill them and I would be almost dead.

I've experimented with different setting for sensitivity and such but cant seem to get it.

Help?

Thanks.

There's not much we can help you with since it's all about experience, but depending on the class, switch to another weapon to finish them. A "good" shot should be somewhere around 80+ damage, so it wouldn't be too hard to finish an opponent that normally has 150 or 125 health. Just keep practicing though, it takes a LONG time to master classes, let alone get good at them. Work at it and practice alot and you'll be shooting fine soon.

Scout is all about learning to adjust to his mad speed, and being able to still aim competently. This is a hard learning curve, one of the hardest in the game IMO, and because of that and the scout's tendency to...die alot...he is one of the least played classes.

Chupathingy is right of course, there's no great secret tips to impart, because it's all about practice. You'll start to learn to use the scout's speed to help your aim instead of hurt it. Remember: with scout, his elusiveness is as important a weapon as his scattergun. Use that speed to slip around behind your enemies and get a good scattergun blast in their back from point blank. After that all you need to do is run around at mid range and cover them with scattergun (watch those 6 rounds!) or the pistol. Don't forget the pistol! It is your friend. Or if you're me, you probably just pull out your bat and try to finish the job in style, for better or worse

Of course everything changes by class your facing. Notice how your enemies kill you, and remember that for the next time. Demo and Soldier is all about running in unrpredictable patterns. If all you're doing is strafing left and right, a good player can simply lob a grenade or shoot a rocket into your face as you run. Never run straight at them. If the demo starts getting sticky-happy, back off quick. The rocket and grenade launcher only have 4 shots, and they will use them up quick. Exploit that reload like there's no tomorrow. And watch the bottle/shovel.
Run from pyros. Learn their flamethrower's max range. It's bigger than you think it is.
And remember you're purpose! Odds are, you're not going to rack up the big points as Scout. So make sure you know you're doing your share by capping points, relaying information to your team (you are a SCOUT after all), and taking out key enemies (like MEDICS!)

Hope this gives you a decent starting point, I highly advise checking out this video. EvilDaedalus is some kind of superhero.

2-3 deaths isn't bad : \

Just keep in mind that you're a flanking class, only attack enemies head on if you know you can take them without much trouble (Engies, medics, snipers, etc.)  Stay away from heavies that have seen you.  And try to only attack enemies that are occupied with killing someone else.

Don't hesitate to run away from an enemy to go get some health and come back. As a scout you're usually fast enough to do so before they get health.

Here are three stages every player goes through:

Stage 1:  "WTF!?!"
You're currently in sensory overload.  You're running around, happy to see the pretty colors and watch the dispenser build itself for the first time.  Lots of people are exploding around you, and you think you like it.  Only problem is that you're running around like a chicken without a head, trying to use the Spy to rush a group of Pyros dressed as a Sniper.  Your reflexes resemble the undeveloped neck muscles of a newborn baby.

Stage 2:  "The Seeker"
You now have your bearing about you on a few maps, and you've discovered that ammo packs and health kits are good.  A bit headstrong, you will run out into the fray exposing your position when your medic is only 10% away from Uber, getting him killed... but you don't care.  You know where the health kits are.  Your ability to react has improved, and now, catching an object falling off your desk before it hits the floor affirms that you will soon be able to use this ability to do all type of superhuman shit - or bring those lonley nights at home to a whole new level.

Stage 3: "Acceptance"
So, by now, you get the idea that this is a team game.  You wait for your medic, and even help him to build an Uber.  You let him have the health packs, and he knows you can be trusted to protect him.  You lead enemies into sentry traps, and you use the Sniper properly and only when needed, instead of trying to cap the intel with him.  You realize that the whole team working together is greater than the sum of it's parts, and your twitch reflex is now  fast enough to heat up a cup of coffee by shaking it vigorously in one place for 30 seconds.
