Meet THE METAL.

Okay so my friend and I were talking about a new TF2 class and I got to thinking... why the fck not? I present to you THE METAL! (name being debated). The Metal is a Robot build during the cold war by soviets, after realizing that the Metal was a cold heartless bastard, they scrapped him now he returns for vengeance on the Battlefields of TF2.

The Metal
Class type: Offensive

Design: I always pictured him as the robot from Guitar hero but His head is different, It's more fish bowl shaped kind of like a divers helmet. His eyes glow according to the team color His marking is on his back and biceps. The mark depicts a cross hair over a human looking silhouette, He is fairly rusty.

Nationality: Kick ass.

Voice: Robotic voice he doesn't respond well to the other team members but does his job efficiently and accurately. Monotone and impassive all the time.

nicknames: Sniper: "clanker" (Clone wars lawlz) Scout: "Junk head" Heavy: "Brother!" Medic: "Ze Metal" Soldier: "Scrap heap" Spy: "Thing" Pyro: "..." Demoman: "Hellspawn" Engineer: "Beautiful and majestic work of art."

Character info: His HP is 250 and he moves just a bit faster than the heavy or soldier. The Medi gun has a reduced effect on him but he can be ubered. The engineer can act as his medic and beat him repeatedly with a hammer, Enemy engineers can also heal The Metal unintentionally by hitting him with the hammer. Backstabs are not as effective but a sapper to the Metal's face is slightly more effective. The sapper would not make him crumple up and die though, His movement speed and overall efficiency would be greatly reduced as the spy backs up and kills him with a pistol. Unlike the whole cast of TF2 he cannot fare underwater, not only does he sink, but when he resurfaces he does not regain back his health (like how you resurface with any class and they catch their breath and their okay) The Metal does not breath so in any case the water causes him to malfunction. Fire does not affect him (think of it like a pyro catching a pyro on fire) and med packs do not work on him but ammunition packs do.

WEAPONS:
Primary weapon: Ray gun- The ray gun fires extremly fast beams that have the same range as a sniper bullet. It deals a little over minimum damage and fires in intervals of 2 so you here FWEEESH...1...2...FWEEESH...1...2 But the perk is it needs no ammo pack It just recharges itself after 40 rounds. (the recharge rate is rougly 20 seconds) Uses in battle: Because of it's high speed travel rate it is perfect for picking off those who try to escape your awesome fury, and since it has a very nice neon team color it is perfect for signaling your teammates. Taunt: He does the Robot.

Secondary weapon: Rocket'nade launcher (yet to be properly named) - The rocket'nade launcher works just like demomans Gernade launcher except the bombs explode on impact and they cause less damage, think of it as Soldiers Rocket launcher but with an arc. It does cause less damage and reloads after 4 shots with a maximum capacity of 40 total rounds carried. Taunt: just like Smoke from Mortal kombat he releases a bunch of bombs from his chest and they explode! doing no real damage it just looks fun.

Melee weapon: Spring loaded fists- think of heavy's fist except it rocketing from his arms and knocking you back 5 or so feet away. Taunt: he gets into a Rock em sock em robots sort of stance and his head springs up(just like a rock 'em sock 'em robot!)

Primary and secondary feel like they need to be switched, though the RNG launcher sounds boring. However, I like the spring-loaded fist idea.

I'm not sure about the whole engineer/medic thing. I think perhaps "scrap" him being healed by medics at all, and restrict him purely to being repaired by engineers and perhaps getting 10hp heals from dropped weapons/destroyed buildings?

Too much effort put into making him a "cool" class rather than a balanced one. The class implemented as you have described would be terrible. "deals a little over minimum damage" Minimum damage of what? Minimum damage is 1 I guess, so it deals 2 damage? "works just like demomans Gernade launcher except the bombs explode on impact and they cause less damage" 2 problems. Both of the demomans weapons could be considered grenade launchers, so don't call either of them that. Stickies or pipes, get used to it. For the second problem, I'm going to assume you meant pipes. Pipes already explode on contact, so I'm not sure where you get the "except they explode on contact." His secondary would be a pipe launcher before they lowered ammo supply that does less damage. You put more thought into taunts and nicknames than class design.

according to some beta testing, you can't kill the metal.  the metal will live on.

yeah, way imbalanced imo.

First off, It is just an Idea please stop with the raging on threads I realize that you do this alot, And I think you know that the Demoman's pipe bombs Do not always explode on contact seeing as how they BOUNCE AROUND first. But because the RNG launcher explodes on contact and in an arc it deals less damage than the pip bombs because it doesn't bounce around, this is useful for close range combat seeeing as how demoman can't do that very well with his pipe bombs, it is also useful for causing snipers and campers to retreat because they explode on impact.

@Josef: It's true.

@ Vancha that is what I was thinking of, and by rereading The Metals Weapons I really don't think he'd need to be ubered. I got sloppy with the second weapon so if anyone has any USEFUL IDEAS that'd be great.

Pipes are the demos best close range weapon. You don't have time to det stickies before you die. Just because you can't look at the ground and shoot to kill nearby enemies doesn't mean it is a bad weapon. It just means you have to not suck.

Does it make you feel like you're full of testosterone and are as manly as your mother says you are when you insist that you are better than anyone who dares oppose you and your way of thinking? Obviously since you're so full of God like TF2 ability you see the need to shoot down anyone who offers SUGGESTIONS?  I'd like to see you close combat against a pyro as a demoman, since when were stickies ever referred to as 'grenades'?  'let me know what you guys think,' Don't take the phrase too literally you damn autistic kid. Baseless Assumptions? I can assume that you do not have a life of which you could be proud of seeing as how you go and ruin it for other people, it's baseless but probably true.

Oh and if you're going to comment, please atl east say how IT COULD BE BETTER. Not what SUCKS ABOUT IT, every retard and his cousin can do that.
