Microsoft Real Time Censoring?

Just what the title says. Apparently back in 2004, Microsoft applied for a patent for "Real time audio censoring". For some reason, it took the bastard four years to grant the patent. Do you think this could shut up some of the whiny ten year olds and cursing n00bs? I for one think that if this technology actually works, a lot of multiplayer PC games and online chat services would implement it. Hell, maybe even Sony will strike a business deal with Microsoft and use it for the Playstaion multiplayer games.

Just mute them. Actually, just get in your truck and back over the headset a few times and never use it again. It will make marginal differences in team games anyways =D

I'm all for free speech and whatever, and if the host doesn't want to hear cursing, I'll abide by it, or better yet, find a different server.  But at the same time, if the host wants to restrict audio, they need to advertise their server as "Rated G" so people know before going in that they're going to be censored.

Besides, if you had real-time censoring, you wouldn't be able to say half the names of the players in this game anyways.  For some reason, a LOT of people think it's new/funny/unique to use names with censored words in it.
