Not much info but I decided to figure out the full potential of the dead ringer. Here's what I got:
Main Info:
- The Dead Ringer activated upon taking
a minimum of 1 damage while the Dead Ringer is held out (you cannot
shoot or reload with the Dead Ringer out)
- Once damage is taken, the player will
have a duplicate corpse fall to the ground along with a fake death
message only viewable by the player that killed you.
- When the cloak meter on the Dead
Ringer runs out, it emits a loud sound to alert nearby enemies.
- The cloak meter (thanks to a recently
implemented nerf) will also completely run out and emit a loud sound
if you end the cloak early.
Misc Things I found out:
- If you are caught on fire while not
having the Dead Ringer out, you can activate the Dead Ringer by
simply pulling it out. This nullifies the fire, creates a burning
body double on the ground and still gives the enemy a false death
message (if you are alone against the pyro, the pyro usually runs off
after your “death”). This is do to the fact that since fire is
constant damage, the Dead Ringer will see it as a single hit (think
of an SMG bullet) per fire damage, thus “transferring” the fire
to your “dead” corpse.
- If you are disguised as a friendly
player, your feign death corpse will be of the class that you are
disguised as. For example, a sniper headshots you while disguised as
a friendly Demoman. The corpse that falls to the floor is that of the
Demoman while you are free to run away and hide.
- Critical hits (so far I have only
tested headshots from arrows, sniper rifles and backstabs from other
spies) do more damage than a regular hit (which would only do about
1-2 damage) but will not kill you unless you are below half health. I
got backstabbed by a spy and proceeded to have 76 health left. The
headshots had more or less the same number left of health left for
the spy.
Most of you know this by now but I
thought I would throw this out there for people who might not. Hope
it helps!
