The new Vertex series from OCZ is getting amazing reviews. If I had the money, that's what I'd get. Almost as good performance as the Intel SSD's, but a fraction of the price.

Not even close, no. My steam folder alone is almost 90 gb with the following games:

I know that WoW is huge, and Windows 7 is about 6-8 gigs. You're going to need at least 120gb IMO.

check into the falcon line from GSkill. they're currently the best you can buy along with the Intel ones but the Intel ones are far more expensive

I don't know about other people, but I have less than half that number of games installed right now.

That's ALOT of games.

I only play a handfull of games at a time.  If I want to play an older game I load it up.  Only takes a couple of minutes.

How many of those games do you play even on a weekly basis?

3-4, but it depends on the week :-). My point is that most games are between 5-10gb these days, so that plus Win7 plus whatever else will be larger than 30gb. If he's careful he can do a 60gb drive, but I'd still recommend double that.

And as far as just "loading it up", most of those were steam purchases so I'd have to re-dl them. Or I could back them up somewhere straight from Steam, but then they are still taking up space somewhere.

I look forward to the day when we can finally use SSDs to make our computers do this.
