Need help identifying this coding language

A friend of mine sent me an .rtf file that contains text and some sort of code. I'm not sure what the code is and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me identify what it is.

The following is a list of the code from the document which I can't identify.

&rarrow;

{/f]

Most of these have corresponding </ > tags indicating that it's ending the code that was started.

My thought is that it's either XML or XSLT, and if it is either of those let me know what's needed to properly view the files.

Those look like RTF tags. If he gave you an RTF fill, just open it with any rich text file viewer.

Thanks Gman, it is an RTF document. Looks like something got screwed up when the file was saved. I've attempted to open it in Word, which should work, but I see the code instead of the proper formatting.
